Assessment and forecast
The Vietnamese pepper market in the first 2 months of 2025 is witnessing many fluctuations as farmers are still limiting sales, expecting prices to continue to increase. Although harvesting activities are taking place strongly in key growing areas, most of the output is still retained instead of being released to the market, reducing trading volume.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association, the US is still the largest customer of Vietnamese pepper with 5,890 tons, accounting for 21.5% of the market share, although the import volume decreased sharply by 32.7% compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, China had a significant breakthrough, increasing by 86.6% to 1,523 tons, reflecting a recovery in demand after a period of tightening import control. Other markets such as Germany and India showed signs of decline, while the UAE grew by 21.9%, reaching 1,480 tons.
The pepper import market to Vietnam in February 2025 reached 2,929 tons, up 61.2% over the previous month, bringing the total import turnover to 15.9 million USD.
