Businesses accelerate production
The Tet goods market is starting to become bustling, manufacturing and distribution businesses are busy preparing for the peak season at the end of the year. Many units expect purchasing power to recover, especially gift items, although the forecast growth rate is not too strong due to the economic slowdown.
Ms. Huynh Thanh Hang - Tamkira Co., Ltd., Ho Chi Minh City - said that orders are also starting to increase, workers are working at full capacity, many companies contact to order OEM - processing products according to technical parameters and private designs of partners serving the Tet market. The demand for gifts from businesses this year is quite large, but compared to last year, the market is expected to increase, but not too strongly because the economy is still showing signs of slowing down.
Positive signals from the demand for Tet orders are also recorded in many food production enterprises. Ms. Ly Kim Chi - Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Food and Foodstuff Association - said that businesses always proactively reserve raw materials to meet the demand for increased output, usually increasing about 20-30% of the volume of goods serving the Tet market. Thanks to this, the supply is not worried about shortages and limits the risk of sudden price increases.
Currently, nearly 40% of businesses in the industry participate in the market stabilization program, so the prices of many essential goods will be kept stable. However, this year, unfavorable weather and storms have affected fresh goods such as green vegetables, meat, and fish. However, processed goods and dry goods basically still ensure supply.
With the current reserve level, businesses in the industry believe that if purchasing power increases by 30-40% at the peak of the year, the supply of goods will still be sufficient, and prices will generally not increase, except for some fresh goods that may fluctuate slightly" - Ms. Kim Chi said.
Ms. Chi also added that right from the end of the third quarter to the beginning of the fourth quarter, many businesses have worked overtime, arranged human resources and reasonable lines to meet the delivery schedule and promptly supply the retail system.
Supermarkets prepare supply early
On the side of retail businesses, supermarket systems said that they have early developed plans to prepare supply. Mr. Nguyen Chi Cuong - Director of Lotte Mart Nam Saigon Supermarket - said: "We expect growth of 20% compared to the previous year. Lotte has closely coordinated with distributors, ensuring Tet goods and price stabilization; at the same time, also implementing promotional programs".
Meanwhile, to meet the trend of increased shopping demand at the end of the year, WinMart representatives said that they have worked with suppliers from 2 to 3 months before Tet to strengthen reserves, ensuring full supply of goods at stable prices.
We focus on prioritizing key commodity groups: Essential consumer goods such as rice, cooking oil, salt, drinking water and basic household products; fresh food groups including vegetables and fruits, pork, chicken, seafood, domestic fruits, imported fruits; gift groups and holiday-specific products such as confectionery, soft drinks, fruits... The system's supermarkets also actively participate in the price stabilization program, thereby helping people feel secure in shopping during peak season" - this person emphasized.
At the end of the year, WinMart will also bring the biggest promotions of the year on the occasion of his 11th birthday, gathering hundreds of essential products from major brands. In addition to the exclusive program for WiN members with a 20% discount on WinEco clean vegetables and MEATDeli chilled meat products, WinMart regularly has promotional programs such as discounts of up to 50%, buy 1 get 1 free, buy 2 get 1 free... serving the year-end needs of families.
To serve the shopping needs during Tet, representatives of Central Retail Vietnam said that the business also simultaneously implements promotional programs. In which, focusing on key items such as: Food, beer, wine, soft drinks, cold cuts, fruits, Tet gift baskets. Central Retail also coordinates with large enterprises to implement promotions, reducing prices by up to 50% for some product groups to stimulate year-end shopping demand.
26,000 billion VND of Tet goods ready
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, the total value of goods prepared to serve Binh Ngo Tet 2026 reached more than 26,000 billion VND, of which more than 9,000 billion VND is market stabilization goods. The stabilization goods group is expected to meet 23 - 42% of consumer demand in the Tet month, contributing to maintaining stable prices and limiting local inflation. Businesses will also implement many deep promotions for pork, chicken, poultry eggs... along with large discounts on confectionery, jam, soft drinks, clothes and gifts near Tet.
Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade - said that the department is coordinating with localities to review sowing plans and production capacity to ensure supply during peak seasons. If difficulties arise, the department will advise the City People's Committee to work with provinces, ministries, and sectors to promptly remove obstacles for businesses.
Regarding pork, the supply is still stable, even some markets import from Vietnam. The issue is not a shortage of goods, but to control supply and demand so as not to affect the long-term livestock strategy, avoiding import dependence. Along with that, inspection, market management and communication are strengthened; information on prices, sources of goods, and price-stabilized points of sale will be widely announced so that people can feel secure in shopping.
From the perspective of market management, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy - Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Sub-Department - said that functional forces are promoting year-end inspections, focusing on food safety and hygiene, price listing, business registration, origin and product quality.
To ensure Tet food safety, Mr. Le Minh Hai - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety - said that the unit has implemented a food safety control plan in three phases: Before, During and After Tet. The focus is on communication to guide businesses to comply with regulations and inspect high-consuming items such as beer, wine, soft drinks, jams, meat, fish, vegetables and fruits... At the same time, mobilize businesses to participate in the safe food chain to ensure supply and quality of goods to serve people during Tet.
Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also issued Official Dispatch No. 10187/BCT-KHTC on the implementation of Resolution No. 406/NQ-CP of the Government on the regular meeting in November 2025 and Official Dispatch No. 241/CD-TTg of the Prime Minister on the implementation of tasks to promote economic growth.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade assigns the Domestic Market Management and Development Department to preside over and coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to closely monitor and firmly grasp the market situation, balance supply and demand, and stabilize the prices of goods and services. In addition, it is necessary to have appropriate and effective solutions to stabilize the market and prices, especially gasoline and oil, food, and other essential goods; not to let gasoline and oil shortages or essential goods shortages occur to serve life and production and business.
On the other hand, the Domestic Market Management and Development Department must strengthen the prevention and control of smuggling, trade fraud, origin fraud, counterfeit goods, and poor quality goods. Prepare goods to serve Tet, stabilize the market and promote the implementation of the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign, domestic consumption stimulus programs, bringing Vietnamese goods to rural, mountainous, and island areas... during the New Year and Lunar New Year.
