Excited harvest of vegetables
In recent days, Hai Duong province has had prolonged cold rain. However, many farmers are still enthusiastically going to the fields to harvest. In Kim Thanh district (Hai Duong province), people go to the fields to harvest cabbage to bring to the market. Farmers carefully carried each cabbage, arranging it in short sentences on the vehicle. Many cabbage farmers in Kim Thanh district said that this year's cabbage is green, not sick, green and sweet.
In the vegetable fields in Quoc Tuan commune (Nam Sach district, Hai Duong province), many farmers make rice paper for cucumber fields. Cucumbers are grown by the people of Quoc Tuan commune all year round, but the spring, summer and fall and winter crops are the ideal time thanks to favorable weather.
Having just finished harvesting the year-end carrots, farmers in Duc Chinh commune (Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province) took the opportunity to go to the fields to grow spring vegetables such as corn, watermelon, etc. In Hai Duong, Cam Giang district is one of the localities with a large spring vegetable crop with about 700 hectares.

On the spice fields in Tien Tien commune (Hai Duong city), Ms. Nguyen Thi Luong and other farmers are busy harvesting. Ms. Luong said: "Although it was cold, we still tried to go to the fields to harvest vegetables. Seeing the vegetables grow well, even though the selling price is not high, we have more motivation to harvest. Witnessing the green fields of coriander, perilla, basil... we farmers are very happy".
Vegetable prices change
Prolonged cold and rainy weather has caused a significant obstacle to farmers' vegetable harvesting process, causing a sharp decrease in supply in the market. Meanwhile, consumer demand remains stable, leading to high vegetable prices.
Recorded at a traditional market in Ngoc Chau ward (Hai Duong city), the prices of all vegetables have increased significantly compared to normal times. Popular leafy vegetables such as mustard greens, water spinach, chrysanthemum greens, cabbage, etc. all have significantly higher prices.

Cabbage increased from 10,000 VND/bunch to 15,000 VND/bunch, cabbage from 14,000 VND/kg to 20,000 VND/kg, water spinach from 10,000 VND/kg to 17,000 VND/kg, water spinach ranged from 10,000 - 15,000 VND/bunch, while green onions increased to 60,000 VND/kg. Prices of herbs and spices also increased by about 20%.
However, according to Ms. Nguyen Thi Luong, although spices are still growing well in current weather conditions, the consumption of this group of vegetables on the market is not as high as leafy vegetables or vegetables. The main reason is that consumer demand has not increased sharply, while supply is still abundant.
Some vegetables such as Korea, perilla, Hanh Canh, red basil... have no significant price increases, even the selling price is 1,000 - 2,000/kg lower than previous years. This makes it difficult for many farming households to consume products, affecting the profits earned.
