During the supervision process, recently, the Working Group of the Market Management Department under the Domestic Market Management and Development Department discovered 2 business households at kiosk 47T-49T and kiosk 3B+9D at Saigon Square Shopping Center (District 1), mixing and selling products with signs of counterfeiting famous brands registered for protection in Vietnam.

At kiosk 47T-49T owned by Ms. Ngo Thi Hang Nga, a Hermes leather wallet from France is listed at 150,000 VND/product. For Chanel, Gucci or Louis Vuitton brand handbags at this business household, the price ranges from 280,000 - 380,000 VND/product... - much lower than the selling price on the company's website.
At the 3B+9D kiosk owned by Ms. Vo Thi Kieu Oanh, products such as Lacoste, Boss or Polo T-shirts are listed at only 100,000 - 150,000 VND/product.
During the inspection, the working groups drew up records and temporarily detained a total of nearly 400 counterfeit products at the above 2 business locations.
Previously, on May 29, 6 Working Groups of the Domestic Market Management and Development Department deployed a series of inspections of booths at Saigon Square Shopping Center. Despite efforts to close stalls to avoid them, thousands of counterfeit products of famous brands such as watches, handbags, wallets and glasses were still discovered and seized by the authorities.
Over the past 2 weeks, the Working Groups of the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development have been on duty regularly, supervising business activities at kiosks. Before this move, many stalls chose to close, even package, and transport goods out of business locations to avoid inspection.
According to the representative of the leader of the Domestic Market Management and Development Department, the inspection of famous trading locations for counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin, and goods violating intellectual property rights will continue to be implemented by the unit. This is a continuous and long-term task. In parallel with the inspection process, the working groups combined propaganda and mobilization of traders to convert business items in accordance with regulations, in order to promote and develop the domestic market, bringing confidence and a positive impression to tourists when shopping in Ho Chi Minh City.
