According to statistics from the Customs Department, Vietnam's durian export value in October 2025 reached 572,663 thousand USD, bringing the total export turnover of this item to more than 3.3 billion USD in the 10 months since the beginning of this year. It is worth mentioning that durian has increased by 10.4% compared to the same period last year, this is considered a new milestone to help durian regain its position as the "king of fruit".
Of which, China is still Vietnam's largest durian import market with an import value of 562,030 trillion USD in October, accounting for 94.35% of total export value. Other major markets are: Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong (China), US...

Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen, General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, said that Vietnamese durian has grown well thanks to improved quality and competitive prices.
Thanks to the breakthrough growth in the last months of the year, durian continues to be a bright spot in Vietnam's agricultural exports. Previously, in the first months of 2025, durian exports to China recorded a serious decrease, reaching only about 20% of the plan. The reason is that China has tightened the inspection of substances such as O gold and cadimi.
In that situation, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has closely coordinated with the Chinese Customs Department to handle problems related to technical factors that are significantly hindering export flows. At the same time, speed up the progress of granting growing area codes, approving packaging facilities and laboratories for export.
"Faced with China's more stringent technical requirements, many Vietnamese enterprises have upgraded growing areas, invested in cold storage, packaging lines and built their own brands," said Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen.
In August 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued a food safety control process for fresh durian for export. Accordingly, this process applies to the entire production chain of fresh durian from cultivation, harvesting, transportation, storage, packaging and export.
