On April 26, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 839/QD-TTg on the appointment of Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai - Commander of Military Region 1 - to hold the position of Deputy Minister of National Defense.
The term of appointment is 5 years, the decision takes effect from April 26.
