2 cities recognized as class I urban areas

The Prime Minister recognized Rach Gia city and Phu Quoc city as class I urban areas.

On January 21, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed the Prime Minister's decisions recognizing two cities under Kien Giang province as class I urban areas.

In Decision No. 195/QD-TTg, the Prime Minister recognized Rach Gia city as a class I urban area, directly under Kien Giang province.

The urban area of ​​Rach Gia city includes the entire administrative boundary of the existing Rach Gia city. The inner city area includes the entire administrative boundary of 10 wards (An Binh, An Hoa, Rach Soi, Vinh Hiep, Vinh Lac, Vinh Loi, Vinh Quang, Vinh Thanh, Vinh Thanh Van, Vinh Thong), the suburban area includes the entire administrative boundary of Phi Thong commune.

In Decision No. 199/QD-TTg, the Prime Minister recognized Phu Quoc city as a class I urban area, under Kien Giang province.

The scope of urban recognition includes the entire administrative boundary of the existing Phu Quoc city, in which the inner city area is expected to include the entire administrative boundary of 2 wards (An Thoi, Duong Dong) and 6 communes (Ham Ninh, Duong To, Ganh Dau, Cua Can, Cua Duong, Bai Thom), the suburban area includes the entire administrative boundary of Tho Chau commune.

The above decisions take effect from the date of signing and promulgation, January 21, 2025.
