Central Internal Affairs Committee reduces 2 focal points after streamlining apparatus

The Central Internal Affairs Committee has 10 affiliated units (2 fewer than before) after restructuring and streamlining the apparatus.

The Politburo and the Secretariat have just held a conference to announce the Politburo's Decision on the functions, tasks, powers, organizational structure, and working relationships of 13 Party agencies, Party public service units, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and socio-political organizations at the central level.

According to Decision No. 215-QD/TW dated December 28, 2024 on the functions, tasks, and organizational structure of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, the Central Internal Affairs Commission functions as an advisory body, assisting the Party Central Committee, directly and regularly the Politburo, the Secretariat on major policies and guidelines in the fields of internal affairs, prevention and combat of corruption, waste, negativity and judicial reform; at the same time, it is a specialized and professional agency on internal affairs of the Party, the Standing body of the Central Steering Committee on prevention and combat of corruption, waste, negativity and the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform.

According to the investigation on December 31 by Lao Dong reporter, according to Decision No. 215, the organization of the Central Internal Affairs Committee, the Committee has 10 affiliated units.

Including: Department of Case and Incident Handling Advisory; Department of Law; Department of General Research; Department of Monitoring the Work of Preventing and Combating Corruption, Waste, and Negativity; Department of Internal Affairs; Department of Judicial Reform; Department of Local I (in Hanoi); Department of Local II (in Da Nang); Department of Local III (in Ho Chi Minh City); Office.

The Politburo's decision also clearly states eight tasks of the Central Internal Affairs Commission.

One is research and consultation.

Second is guidance, inspection, supervision.

Third is appraisal: Appraise or give opinions on projects and policies in the fields of internal affairs, anti-corruption, anti-waste, negativity and judicial reform before submitting them to the Politburo and the Secretariat.

Fourth is to participate in organizational and personnel work.

The fifth is to perform the tasks and powers of the Standing Agency of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity, the Standing Agency of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform according to the regulations of the Politburo, the Working Regulations of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity and the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform.

Sixth, receive citizens; receive and handle complaints, denunciations, recommendations and reflections sent to the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity, the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform and the Central Internal Affairs Committee according to regulations.

Seven is international cooperation in the fields of internal affairs, prevention and combat of corruption, waste, negativity and judicial reform according to regulations and in accordance with functions, tasks and authorities.

Eight is to carry out other tasks assigned by the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity, and the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform.

According to the decision, the powers of the Central Internal Affairs Committee include: Requesting central internal affairs and judicial agencies, central Party committees, agencies and units, Party committees and organizations directly under the Central Committee to periodically or suddenly report to perform assigned functions and tasks; requesting relevant Party committees, Party organizations, agencies, organizations, units and individuals to work, report, provide information and documents related to the performance of tasks...

Thus, compared with Decision No. 216-QD/TW dated January 2, 2020, the organizational structure of the Central Internal Affairs Committee has been reduced from 12 focal points to 10 focal points.
