Proactively protect the ideological foundation of the Party
Having gone through more than a century of accompanying the nation under the leadership of the Party, the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press has always affirmed its role as a shock force on the ideological and cultural front, a bridge between the Party, the State and the People, making important contributions to the cause of national liberation, construction and defense of the Fatherland.
In the context of digital transformation and the strong development of cyberspace today, the work of protecting the Party's ideological foundation is facing many intertwined opportunities and challenges. Hostile and reactionary forces constantly take advantage of the Internet, social networks and cross-border media platforms to spread false information, distort the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws, causing public confusion and dividing the great national unity bloc.
In particular, 2026 marks a shift from the "information age" to the "age of manipulated truth". Hostile forces are increasingly taking advantage of AI algorithms, deepfaked technology and big data to spread distorted information, blurring the line between reality and falsehood, posing a major challenge to the protection of the Party's ideological foundation. Faced with that reality, protecting the Party's ideological foundation requires a shift from passive defense to proactive attack with truth, justice and modern technology.
That reality poses increasingly high requirements for press agencies and journalists. Each journalist needs to continue to promote political bravery, professional ethics, improve information quality, proactively fight against wrong and hostile views; and at the same time spread positive values, consolidate the people's trust in the Party, State and regime.
Revolutionary journalism needs to continue to affirm its role as a pioneering force, a "sharp sword" and a "solid shield" on the ideological front, contributing to firmly protecting the Party's ideological foundation, maintaining unity within the Party, social consensus and creating motivation to successfully implement the cause of building and developing the country in the new period.
In the cause of protecting the ideological foundation of the Party, the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press holds a particularly important position, both as a pioneering force on the ideological and theoretical front, and as a bridge to bring the Party's guidelines and policies to cadres, party members and the People.
At the ceremony to commend outstanding Party cell secretaries and announce and award the 10th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award in 2025 (held on February 3, 2026), when evaluating the contributions of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, General Secretary To Lam (now General Secretary, President) affirmed that the team of revolutionary journalists has truly integrated into the flow of real life, clearly showing the role of spreading ideology and accompanying the Party's major steps, promoting faith, responsibility, and aspirations for development in all strata of the people.
These contributions are creative labor achievements, proof of the outstanding maturity in thinking, skills, bravery, intelligence and social responsibility of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press team, reflecting the spirit of responsibility, solidarity, and joint efforts of this team with the cause of building, developing, and protecting the Fatherland, with the work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system.
I highly appreciate the fact that more and more works have discovered and addressed inadequacies, limitations, issues raised in Party building and rectification work, pressing issues, current "bottlenecks" and found answers, strengthening criticism, combativeness, and constructiveness" - General Secretary To Lam praised.
Requirements of strategic and vital importance
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc - Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Council on Culture - Society, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front - said that the impacts posed by the new era of development are demanding the protection of the Party's ideological foundation, the fight against wrong and hostile views is not simply a regular task, but also a vital requirement for political stability, the strength of the Party and the sustainable development of the country.
According to Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc, Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW of the Politburo has identified the protection of the Party's ideological foundation, the struggle to refute wrong and hostile views as a fundamental, important, and vital content of Party building and rectification work.
Up to the present stage, that requirement has not decreased but has become deeper and more complex. Because the country is entering a new period of development, in which the aspiration to rise up is not only measured by economic growth rate, infrastructure quality, scientific and technological capacity, but also by political bravery, consensus strength and the ability of society to protect itself from false, toxic, and distorted information flows.
At the summary and award ceremony of the 5th (2025 - 2026) "Protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new situation" writing contest, Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army - also emphasized that currently, the world and regional situation continues to develop rapidly, complicatedly, and unpredictably; especially the cyberspace struggle in the ideological and cultural fields is becoming increasingly fierce and direct.
In that context, protecting the Party's ideological foundation is not only a regular task but also a strategically important and vital requirement for the cause of building and firmly protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Deeply grasping the spirit of the 14th Party Congress Resolution, the task of protecting the Party's ideological foundation today is not only to stop at fighting and refuting wrong and hostile viewpoints, but more importantly, to proactively spread correct values, rich in humanity and revolution; making Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's ideology, the Party's guidelines and viewpoints truly deeply penetrate social life, becoming a solid spiritual foundation of the country.
Each press agency, each revolutionary journalist needs to truly have "bright eyes, clear heart, sharp pens"; must be pioneering soldiers on the Party's ideological and cultural front. Must take the truth as a measure, take the national - ethnic interests and the happiness of the People as the highest goal; strongly promote the Party spirit, combativeness, humanistic values and social responsibility of revolutionary journalism to spread the righteousness, protect truth, consolidate trust, strengthen social consensus; contribute to maintaining the Party's ideological battlefield, firmly protecting the Party, State, People and socialist regime in the new situation.
