On the occasion of this important event, Lao Dong Newspaper had an exchange with journalist Nguyen Duc Loi - former member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association.
* Sir, looking back at the journey of more than a century since the birth of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism, in your opinion, what is the core value that helps journalism always maintain its pioneering role in the cause of national liberation, construction and defense of the Fatherland?
- Journalist Nguyen Duc Loi: Throughout the 101-year historical journey, Vietnamese revolutionary journalism has continuously developed, grown stronger and stronger, affirming its role as a sharp and important political, cultural, and ideological weapon, with the motto "all serve the Fatherland, serve the People, for the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party" and has made great contributions to the struggle for national independence and freedom, national reunification and the cause of building and protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
In any condition or circumstance - whether in the "hell on earth" of imperialism and colonialism, in revolutionary war zones full of difficulties and hardships, on arduous and fierce battlefields, or in the most difficult times of the cause of renovation, integration and prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters, and dangerous storms and floods, Vietnamese Revolutionary Press always affirms the truth, righteousness, dedication, effort, and dedication to serving the correct guidelines, policies of the Party, State and People.
Many newspapers have fulfilled their historical mission, making important contributions to building the tradition, humanistic values, core, and historical significance of revolutionary journalism such as Hammer and Sickle Newspaper, Red Magazine, National Salvation Newspaper... All of which to this day, we are witnessing the outstanding development of the revolutionary press system from the Central to local levels, in which many press agencies have reached a high level of development, modern, professional, multi-form, multi-method, multi-media.
Making 101 glorious years of history, we are very proud, journalists are always imbued, engraved and follow the profound teachings of beloved President Ho Chi Minh: "Press is a front. Press officers are revolutionary soldiers. Pens and pages are their sharp weapons. Articles are revolutionary proclamations" and "Your pens are also sharp weapons in the cause of supporting the righteous and exorcising evil".
* In the era of digital transformation and the explosion of multi-platform information, how do you expect the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press to continue to promote its role to be worthy of the tradition of more than 100 years of accompanying the nation?
- Commemorating the glorious 101-year journey is an opportunity to open a new journey for Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism; with a bright mind and long-term vision, journalism continues to affirm its solid position in the hearts of the public.
In the flow of cross-border information, revolutionary journalism continues to play the role of "ideological fortress", not only contributing to preserving the theoretical foundation of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's ideology, but also actively encouraging and spreading the system of modern Vietnamese values: Patriotism, humanity, creativity, solidarity, responsibility.
Not only performing the task of orienting, the press also proactively reflects deeply the major issues of the country. The investigation series of Lao Dong Newspaper, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Thanh Nien Newspaper... have gone deep into sensitive areas such as land violations, loss of state assets, exam fraud, negativity in medical and pharmaceutical bidding, thereby creating pressure from public opinion, contributing to promoting functional agencies to intervene and handle.
In today's renovation, construction, development of the country and defense of the Fatherland, revolutionary journalism continues to affirm its core role in propaganda, dissemination, orientation, encouragement, and mobilization of the implementation of the Party's guidelines, policies, and policies and laws of the State; is a solid and sustainable bridge between the Party, the State, and the People; contributing to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of leadership, direction, management, and administration at all levels, sectors, and localities.
The press plays a leading role, providing accurate and timely information, with a spirit of criticism, orienting public opinion, creating social consensus; contributing to firmly consolidating the great national unity bloc and the people's belief in the leadership of the Party and the management of the State.
The press proactively and actively contributes to protecting the ideological foundation of the Party, fighting and refuting wrong and hostile views; preventing and combating corruption, negativity, and wastefulness.
The press widely spreads humanistic values, compassion, goals, ideals, ambitions, and dreams, with many typical and advanced examples, contributing to improving people's knowledge, forming correct views, cultural values, and good standards, bringing a vivid and profound image of the country and people of Vietnam, contributing to enhancing the role, position, and prestige of Vietnamese people and the country of Vietnam in the international arena.
* In the 101-year history of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism, Lao Dong Newspaper has 97 years of tradition, holding a very important position, being one of the two earliest and oldest revolutionary newspapers in Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism. According to you, what does Lao Dong Newspaper need to do to be worthy of its glorious tradition of nearly a century?
- 2026 is the time when our country's press continues to face many great opportunities and challenges. After the 100-year milestone of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism, press agencies are entering a period of strong transformation towards multi-platform, comprehensive digitalization and application of artificial intelligence in journalistic activities.
In that context, Lao Dong Newspaper - the mouthpiece of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - continues to affirm its role as one of the leading socio-political press agencies in the country, always pioneering in protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers; and at the same time is one of the leading units in content innovation, digital transformation and application of new technologies in journalistic activities.
Lao Dong Newspaper is also a unit with outstanding achievements in participating in press awards launched by the Vietnam Journalists Association. In particular, for 3 consecutive years, in the period 2023 - 2025, Lao Dong Newspaper was in the leading group of central press agencies in excellent digital transformation and AI technology application.
Over the past 100 years, Lao Dong Newspaper has achieved many proud milestones. This achievement is thanks to the efforts of many generations of officials, reporters, and workers; at the same time, Lao Dong Newspaper has also received the attention of Party and State leaders, especially the direction of the leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
