On September 1, at the Presidential Palace, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong received President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Igor Sergeenko and the Belarusese delegation to Vietnam to attend the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day on September 2 (1945 - 2025).
At the meeting, President Luong Cuong welcomed the delegation of the House of Representatives of the Belarus National Assembly led by President Igor Sergeenko to attend the ceremony; expressed his appreciation for the valuable assistance of the people of the Soviet Union, including the people of Belarus, to the Vietnamese people in the past struggle for independence and national reunification and in building and developing the country today.
President Luong Cuong affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always attach importance to the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Belarus; wish to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas where Belarus has strengths and Vietnam has needs such as science - technology, industry, agriculture; and suggested that the Belarusese National Assembly support the promotion of increased exchanges, exchanges and cooperation at high and all levels, especially through parliamentary channels to support the creation of a favorable legal framework to effectively and substantially implement the agreements between the two countries' senior leaders. On this occasion, President Luong Cuong respectfully invited the President of Belarus to pay a state visit to Vietnam in the coming time.
Expressing his admiration and congratulations for the remarkable development and great achievements in various fields that Vietnam has achieved under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Belarus Igor Sergeenko emphasized the great and important significance of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day on September 2; affirming that with a long history of long-term, trusting, and Association, going through many challenges, Belarus always attaches importance to and wishes to strongly promote relations with Vietnam.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Belarus informed about cooperation projects between the two countries in the fields of trade, investment, industry, national defense and security; expressed his joy and confidence that the signing of the visa exemption agreement will open up great opportunities to promote bilateral cooperation, including cultural and tourism cooperation, and practical efficiency.
On this occasion, Mr. Sergeenko conveyed a letter from Belarusese President Alexander Lukashenko to congratulate Vietnam on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day on September 2.
Appreciating the positive developments in bilateral relations in recent times, especially the historic state visit to Belarus by General Secretary To Lam and the establishment of a relationship with the Strategic Partnership (May 2025), President Luong Cuong and Speaker of the Belarusese House of Representatives Igor Sergeenko agreed that the two sides should soon agree on the 2025-2027 Cooperation Development Plan to concretize cooperation agreements and create a basis for promoting bilateral cooperation in various fields, commensurate with the potential and strengths of each side; strengthen coordination at international and regional forums, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
