The establishment of teachers is one of the issues that has received much attention from localities. Recently, many localities such as Thai Nguyen, Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Binh Phuoc, and Bac Kan have proposed to add more teachers for the 2024-2025 school year.
Responding to the petitions of these localities, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that in the period of 2022 - 2026, to ensure the principle of "where there are students, there must be teachers in the classroom" and to immediately overcome the shortage of teachers, the Ministry has consulted and reported to the Government Party Committee to submit to the Politburo to supplement 65,980 teacher positions for localities.
Of which, Thai Nguyen will have 1,157 additional positions in the 2022-2023 school year, 1,092 additional positions in the 2023-2024 school year, and 428 additional positions in the 2024-2025 school year.
For Lam Dong, 44 positions will be added in the 2022-2023 school year, 209 positions will be added in the 2023-2024 school year, and 102 positions will be added in the 2024-2025 school year.
For Dak Lak, 113 positions will be added in the 2024-2025 school year. Dak Nong will have 336 positions added in the 2024-2025 school year.
Binh Phuoc in the 2022-2023 school year will have 198 additional positions, in the 2023-2024 school year will have 293 additional positions, and in the 2024-2025 school year will have 152 additional positions.
Bac Kan in the 2022-2023 school year will have 16 additional positions, and in the 2023-2024 school year, will have 24 additional positions.
The Ministry of Home Affairs recommends that localities recruit and use up all the additional teacher quotas assigned above.
In case the assigned recruitment quota has been fully utilized but there is still a shortage of teachers to serve teaching at local public schools, it is recommended to study and implement solutions according to the Prime Minister's direction on supplementing the teacher payroll for the 2024-2025 school year and the opinion of the Ministry of Home Affairs on implementing the supplementing of public teacher payroll for the 2024-2025 school year.
The Prime Minister issued Directive No. 31/CT-TTg dated September 4, 2024 on strengthening conditions to ensure effective implementation of tasks for the 2024-2025 school year.
The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Education and Training to continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs and localities to review the number of teachers in order to propose to the Central Government to supplement the education sector, especially preschool teachers, in the 2024-2025 school year according to Decision No. 72-QD/TW dated July 18, 2022 of the Politburo.
Direct, inspect and urge localities to recruit teachers assigned by competent authorities and have appropriate and effective solutions to overcome the shortage of teachers, especially preschool teachers and teachers of new subjects according to the 2018 general education program.
