Strictly implement the policies and tasks of judicial reform
This morning (February 24), in Hanoi, the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform held its first meeting in 2025 chaired by Politburo member and President Luong Cuong, Head of the Steering Committee, according to VNA.
Also attending were Politburo members: Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee Standing Committee; Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh; Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang.
The meeting aims to evaluate the results of judicial reform work in recent times; key tasks in 2025, Work Program in 2025 and Working Regulations of the Steering Committee. At the same time, it gave opinions on a number of contents related to reviewing and evaluating the law related to the death penalty and execution of the death penalty.
At the meeting, delegates heard the announcement of the decision to reorganize the Steering Committee and the Politburo's Regulations on the functions, tasks, powers, and working relationships of the Steering Committee. Accordingly, the Steering Committee consists of 15 members headed by Politburo member and President Luong Cuong.
At the meeting, the Steering Committee also highly agreed with the draft 2025 work program and the Working Regulations of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform.
Concluding the meeting, President Luong Cuong affirmed that in the past time, especially in 2024, the Steering Committee as well as its members have proactively led and directed relevant agencies to continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the policies and tasks of judicial reform stated in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, Resolution No. 27-NQ/TW, other resolutions and conclusions of the Politburo.
The President noted that the Steering Committee and members need to evaluate tasks, review and supplement a number of regulations, assign members to the Steering Committee, and develop a work program for 2025 to ensure quality.
The tasks and solutions of the Steering Committee need to identify difficulties and obstacles to resolve them, ensure compliance with Party regulations, and serve the common task.
Implementing activities to review amnesty and amnesty
The President also emphasized that 2025 is the year of many important events for the country; including the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country, the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South, and the reunification of the country. Therefore, there needs to be many judicial activities related to the implementation of humanitarian policies, amnesty, and amnesty.
To remove difficulties and obstacles, it is necessary to amend and supplement legal regulations. However, during the time of proposing to adjust the law, the Central Internal Affairs Commission needs to preside over and coordinate with the Supreme People's Procuracy, the Supreme People's Court and relevant agencies and units to report to competent authorities to be able to implement the activity of considering amnesty and amnesty on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South, the national reunification, and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country, in order to clearly demonstrate the humane and lenient policies of our Party and State.
Basically agreeing with the Steering Committee's tasks in 2025, the President requested the Central Internal Affairs Commission to continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to propose and give opinions on a number of Projects and contents related to amending and supplementing legal regulations on justice, judicial reform, perfecting the organization and apparatus of judicial agencies according to the Party's policy on innovation and streamlining the apparatus of the political system to add to the Steering Committee's program or seek opinions from the Steering Committee and the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee before submitting to the Politburo and the Secretariat.
President Luong Cuong assessed that the opinions were also basically in agreement with the solution on perfecting the law, improving the effectiveness of law application related to the death penalty.
The President also noted that the Supreme People's Procuracy should accept the opinions of the Steering Committee and relevant agencies to focus on completing it soon, how to ensure the project to remove bottlenecks and bottlenecks, and correct issues that are not suitable for reality.
The Supreme People's Procuracy will coordinate with relevant units to prepare content to submit to the Politburo for consideration and comments on this Project in the first quarter of 2025, ensuring quality and progress to submit to the National Assembly for consideration of amending and supplementing relevant laws in 2025.
