At the 9th extraordinary session held this afternoon (February 18), with 448/448 delegates participating in the vote, the National Assembly passed a Resolution approving the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint the Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021 - 2026 term.
Accordingly, the National Assembly approved the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint the position of Deputy Prime Minister for Party Central Committee member Mai Van Chinh, Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization Mai Van Chinh and Party Central Committee member - Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung.
New Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung was born in 1960 (65 years old), from Ha Tinh.
He has a PhD in Economic Management, has 3 terms as a member of the Central Committee (XI, XII, XIII) and 2 terms as a National Assembly delegate (XIV, XV).
Mr. Dung was Deputy Director and then Deputy Director at the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
In 2008, he took on the position of Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, but less than a year later, he was transferred to the locality, holding the position of Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee. After that, he was Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Council.
After nearly 5 years of working with the locality, Mr. Dung continued to return to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, as Deputy Minister and then Minister. He has held the position of Minister of Planning and Investment since April 2016.
