According to VNA, at 3:45 p.m. on November 12 (local time), the plane carrying President Luong Cuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, starting an official visit to the Republic of Peru and attending the 2024 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Week in Lima, Peru at the invitation of President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra.
Welcoming President Luong Cuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at Jorge Chavez airport - on the Peruvian side were the Government Minister and a number of officials from the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; on the Vietnamese side were Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil and Peru Bui Van Nghi and officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy.
This is the first official visit to Peru by a Vietnamese President. Taking place on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the visit is expected to be a historic milestone, contributing to consolidating the foundation of good political relations between the two countries, enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation in potential areas and aiming to bring the relationship to a new height.
In addition, the President's participation in the APEC 2024 Summit Week, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Forum's establishment, continues to affirm Vietnam's active and responsible contributions to solving regional and global issues, especially promoting the process of international economic integration, creating new momentum for regional growth; continuing to strengthen APEC's role as the leading economic forum.
During more than 25 years of participating in APEC, Vietnam has left many strong marks in APEC cooperation and has always been assessed as a member with many positive, responsible and effective contributions to realizing APEC's cooperation goals and visions as well as enhancing the role of the forum.
On the other hand, attending the APEC Summit Week is an opportunity for President Luong Cuong to meet and interact with APEC leaders, including many comprehensive strategic partners and strategic partners, contributing to continuously deepening relations with APEC members.
During his stay in Peru, President Luong Cuong is expected to attend an official welcoming ceremony hosted by the President of Peru and hold talks and meetings with leaders of the Peruvian Government and National Assembly.
The President will join leaders of member economies in attending the APEC Summit; attending and delivering important speeches at the APEC CEO Summit, the Informal Dialogue between APEC leaders and guests; and many other bilateral activities.
