According to VNA, on the evening of November 8, President Luong Cuong and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Hanoi for an official visit to the Republic of Chile at the invitation of President Gabriel Boric Font from November 9-12; an official visit to the Republic of Peru and to attend the 2024 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Week in Lima, Peru at the invitation of President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra from November 12-16.
The official delegation accompanying the President includes: General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense; Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Head of the Office of the President Le Khanh Hai; Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan; Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung; Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Deputy Head of the Central Commission for External Relations Ngo Le Van; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang; Deputy Minister of Finance Vo Thanh Hung; Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan; Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc; Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son; Chairman of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry Pham Tan Cong; Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Dung; Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long; Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile Nguyen Viet Cuong; Assistant to the President Duong Quoc Hung.
This is President Luong Cuong's first overseas trip in his new position, with special significance and importance both bilaterally and multilaterally.
The visit will contribute to further consolidating traditional friendship, further enhancing political trust, effectively exploiting cooperation potential, promoting Vietnam's relations with Chile and Peru as well as the Latin American region, and enhancing coordination with countries in responding to global challenges.
On the other hand, the President's participation in the APEC 2024 Summit Week on the occasion of the forum's 35th anniversary continues to affirm Vietnam's active and responsible contribution to solving regional and global issues, especially promoting the process of international economic integration, creating new momentum for regional growth; continuing to strengthen APEC's role as the leading economic forum, where 3/5 of the world's largest economies converge.
This is also an opportunity for the President to meet and interact with APEC leaders, including many Comprehensive Strategic Partners and Strategic Partners of Vietnam, contributing to continuously deepening relations with APEC members.
