Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn and Captain Simeon Beckett are on a state visit to Vietnam from September 9-12, at the invitation of President Luong Cuong and his wife.
The welcoming ceremony for Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn and Queen Simeon Beckett was solemnly held at the Presidential Palace.

The convoy carrying Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn and Captain Simeon Beckett and members of the convoy entered the Presidential Palace. The military band played the national anthems of Australia and Vietnam. President Luong Cuong and Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn approved the honor guard and introduced officials from both sides to attend the welcoming ceremony.
Immediately after the official welcoming ceremony, President Luong Cuong held talks with Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn.

The state visit to Vietnam by Australian Governor Sam Mostyn and Commissioner Simeon Beckett is of great significance, helping to affirm the determination of both countries in continuously strengthening the friendship and cooperation in all fields, especially political cooperation after more than a year and a half of establishing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
For Australia, the visit demonstrates a consistent policy of attaching importance to and prioritizing the development of relations with Southeast Asia, including Vietnam.
For Vietnam, welcoming the Australian Governor-elect to contribute to the implementation of the Party and State's foreign policy, attaching importance to relations with countries in the South Pacific region, especially Australia, a country that plays an important role in the region, was previously the first Western country to establish diplomatic relations and currently has very effective and active cooperative relations with Vietnam.
