On the afternoon of August 11, at the Presidential Palace, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong received Lieutenant General Vongsone Inpanphim - Deputy Minister of National Defense, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Lao People's Army.
President Luong Cuong affirmed that the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos are of great significance to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland of each country; are the laws of existence and development of each country.
The President stated that Vietnam always remembers the wholehearted and wholehearted help of Laos in the past struggle to protect the Fatherland and in today's cause of building and defending the Fatherland; will work with Laos to firmly protect the achievements of the revolution, for peace, stability and development of both peoples.
Lieutenant General Vongsone Inpanphim said that this is his first overseas visit after taking up the position of Director of the General Department of Politics of the Lao People's Army to implement the cooperation plan between the two General Departments of Politics and the two Ministries of National Defense of the two countries.

Emphasizing that defense cooperation is one of the important pillars in the Vietnam - Laos bilateral relationship, a "special thing" in the cooperation between the two countries, the President highly appreciated the comprehensive cooperation results between the two Ministries of National Defense in general, between the two General Departments of Politics in particular, especially in the fields of coordination and consultation on military and defense work, effectively implementing the common perception of the two countries' senior leaders on military and defense tasks; consulting and sharing experiences in building strong troops in all aspects; training cadres; effectively maintaining exchange, dialogue and solidarity mechanisms, especially the exchange of national defense and defense friendship; cooperating in searching for and gathering the remains of martyrs, volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts born in Laos.
The President suggested that in the coming time, the two armies should strengthen cooperation and exchange experiences in building a strong army in politics, ideology, cadres and organization; focus on consolidating and protecting the Party's ideological foundation, maintaining the Party's absolute and direct leadership in all aspects over the people's army; enhance the role, effectiveness and efficiency in conducting Party work and political work in each field, program and cooperation project between the two armies; strengthen effective propaganda and education on the history, significance and importance of the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos...
Expressing his deep gratitude to the Party, State, army and people of Vietnam for always supporting and helping the State and People's Army of Laos over the past time, Lieutenant General Vongsone Inpanphim hopes to continue to receive the President's attention and direction in the coming time for the army as well as the General Department of Politics of the People's Army of the two countries.
Lieutenant General Vongsone Inpanphim affirmed that, in any circumstances, the Lao People's Army will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the Vietnam People's Army to protect and build the country; foster the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
