Speaking at the meeting, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the Party, State, Government and National Assembly have had many mechanisms and policies for Can Tho City, so the city's leaders need to review the achievements and limitations to implement the Resolutions of the Government and the National Assembly more effectively.
The National Assembly Chairman suggested that Can Tho needs to resolutely and synchronously implement solutions for socio-economic development; strive to achieve a high growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in 2025.
The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated Can Tho City's development planning approved by the Prime Minister in Decision 1519 as the basis for planning, especially planning for industrial, commercial, service development and calling for and attracting investment.
In 2025, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man noted that the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee needs to focus and be creative to achieve the goals in Resolution 59 of the Politburo on building and developing Can Tho City to 2030, with a vision to 2045 and Resolution No. 45/2022/QH15 of the National Assembly on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Can Tho City.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man asked the city's leaders to continue to pay attention to taking care of the lives of people, families with meritorious services, and poor households so that everyone can enjoy spring and celebrate Tet.
In 2024, the city's economy will continue to develop in a positive direction, shifting in the right direction towards industry, construction and trade, achieving a growth rate of 7.12% higher than the national average.
The economic scale reached over 133,000 billion VND, up 11.47%; average income per capita reached over 104 million VND, up 10.8%; state budget revenue reached over 12,600 billion VND, up 12.52%, the highest revenue since the beginning of the term; the total number of tourists visiting the city was over 6.3 million, revenue reached over 6,200 billion VND.
