On April 29, in Rach Gia ward, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the Central working delegation visited and presented gifts to policy families, workers, and laborers in difficult circumstances in An Giang province, on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2026) and International Labor Day (May 1).
Speaking at the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sent wishes for good health, greetings and best wishes to provincial leaders and policy families, people with meritorious services, workers and people of An Giang province.

The National Assembly Chairwoman acknowledged and highly appreciated the outstanding achievements of An Giang in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, building the political system and effectively implementing social security work. In particular, the province has had many practical movements to care for policy families, poor households, and workers; doing well in foreign affairs, maintaining national defense and security in border and island areas and strengthening cooperation with Cambodia.
The National Assembly Chairwoman requested the province to focus on preparing well for major events in 2027, especially key projects in Phu Quoc, creating strong momentum for Phu Quoc to become a regional-level tourism, investment and integration center.

The National Assembly Chairwoman requested An Giang to continue to effectively implement national target programs on building new rural areas, sustainable poverty reduction, and developing ethnic minority areas; pay attention to education and training, science and technology, and people's health care, especially implementing the policy of periodic health check-ups for people; and at the same time strengthen the fight against border crime, drugs, high technology and ensure security and social safety.
At the program, the delegation presented 200 gifts to policy families, workers, and laborers in difficult circumstances in Rach Gia ward, Vinh Thong ward, Binh An commune, and Chau Thanh commune.

GRDP growth in the first quarter of 2026 of An Giang province is estimated to reach 7.8% (ranked first in the Mekong Delta region, ranked 25th/34 localities nationwide). Total state budget revenue in the first quarter reached 8,682 billion VND, equal to 26.8% of the estimate and 103.2% of the revenue scenario. Social security work for policy beneficiaries, poor households, and those in difficult circumstances is always concerned and directed by the province. The province has organized Tet gift payments for 261,609 people with a total budget of over 192 billion VND. The province has also completed the removal of 8,426 temporary and dilapidated houses for families of people with meritorious services, poor and near-poor households.
