National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated and commended the very encouraging results of Tra Vinh province in 2024, especially in the context of many difficulties and challenges in the domestic and international situation, thereby actively contributing to the overall achievements of the country.
In particular, the province's GRDP growth ranked 8th in the country and the highest in the Mekong Delta region at 10.04%. Along with economic development, social security work, care for policy beneficiaries, meritorious people, and social protection beneficiaries of the province also achieved many positive results.
For Tra Vinh in general and the Mekong Delta, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that households that have escaped poverty and can fall back into poverty is a specific issue that needs attention, especially for ethnic minorities.
Policy families, poor households, and poor people make more efforts, overcome difficulties, actively compete in labor and production, gradually stabilize and improve the quality of life; contribute to the overall development of the province.
Appreciating the goals and targets set by Tra Vinh province for 2025, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that the top priority is to strive for double-digit growth.
“In 2024, Tra Vinh's GRDP growth rate will reach 10.04%, this year we must strive to increase it to 12-13%, maintain this momentum, complete the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress, complete the province's 5-year socio-economic plan 2020-2025, prepare for Party Congresses at all levels, and move towards the Provincial Party Congress,” said the National Assembly Chairman.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man informed that currently, General Secretary To Lam and the Central Committee have launched a revolution in streamlining the apparatus and a revolution in preventing and combating waste throughout the Party, the army and the people. The National Assembly Chairman suggested that Tra Vinh province focus on summarizing Resolution No. 18 of the Central Committee, streamlining the apparatus of the political system and paying more attention to the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity.
During the visit and gift-giving ceremony, the National Assembly Chairman and the delegation presented Tet gifts to 90 policy households, poor households, near-poor households, and people in difficult circumstances; 100 workers and laborers in difficult circumstances; and 10 ethnic minority households in difficult circumstances in the area.
Earlier, on the same morning, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the Central working delegation visited and presented gifts to policy families, poor households, near-poor households, ethnic minorities, officers and soldiers at My Long Border Guard Station, My Long commune, Cau Ngang district, Tra Vinh province.
Lam Minh Dang, Deputy Secretary of Tra Vinh Provincial Party Committee, said that in 2024, despite many difficulties, Tra Vinh province achieved many positive results. The province achieved and exceeded 26/27 main targets; the economic scale reached 96,622 billion VND; and the average income per capita reached 94,368 million VND (3,671 USD).
Domestic revenue reached 6,530 billion VND; agricultural production, industrial production, tourism, export turnover... all exceeded the plan and increased compared to the same period. The province completed the task of building new rural areas 1 year ahead of the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress. Cultural and social activities had many positive changes; the quality of education and training was improved.
