On December 28, the Government Inspectorate held an online conference to summarize the work in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025 of the Inspectorate.
Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh attended and directed the conference.
At the conference, Deputy Inspector General of the Government Duong Quoc Huy presented the 2024 summary report, stating that the Government Inspectorate and inspectors of ministries, branches and localities focus on inspecting State management work in sectors and fields that are prone to corruption and negativity, have many complaints and denunciations, and are of public concern.
The Inspectorate also proactively monitors, urges, and inspects the implementation of inspection conclusions to promptly and legally handle violations of collectives and individuals; recover lost and misappropriated assets; rectify State management work and perfect policies and laws in the inspected fields.
The whole industry has carried out 6,673 administrative inspections and 118,983 specialized inspections and checks.
Through inspection, management was rectified, legal mechanisms and policies were perfected in many areas; economic violations of VND 157,585 billion and 245 hectares of land were discovered; and administrative sanctions were recommended for 2,360 groups and 9,017 individuals.
The entire Inspectorate has transferred 269 cases and 173 subjects to the investigation agency for consideration and handling.
Regarding anti-corruption work, the Government Inspectorate said that all levels and sectors have also transferred the work positions of 18,635 cadres, civil servants and public employees to prevent corruption.
Also in 2024, the agencies verified the declaration of assets and income of 6,775 people; from which 10 people were disciplined for declaring assets and income dishonestly. During the reporting period, there were 46 cases where the heads were concluded to be irresponsible for corruption, and 52 people were disciplined.
Regarding the work of receiving people and resolving complaints and denunciations, according to the Deputy Inspector General of the Government, all levels and sectors have made many efforts to improve quality and efficiency.
The report shows that the rate of handling complaints and denunciations under its authority reached 85.4%, higher than the Government's target (85%).
State administrative agencies at all levels have resolved 25,823 out of a total of 30,238 complaints and denunciations under their authority.
In addition to the achieved results, the Government Inspectorate also identified shortcomings and limitations that need to be promptly overcome.
That is, the rate of money and asset recovery through supervision and handling after inspection is still low. The completion of mechanisms, policies and laws according to recommendations in the inspection conclusion is still slow.
Some localities have not fully and seriously implemented the regulations on regular citizen reception by their leaders; have not been determined, resolute or have not had appropriate plans to completely resolve outstanding, complicated and prolonged cases.
The situation of harassment and inconvenience to people and businesses in resolving work has not been completely prevented. The work of self-inspection and detection of corruption within agencies, organizations and units is still limited.
In addition, the organizational structure and quality of the Inspection staff are still inadequate, and some inspection staff do not comply with discipline well.
