The working trip of the National Assembly Chairman creates a strong qualitative change for economy and trade

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang answered an interview about the results of the working trip of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife.

Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, attended the 152nd IPU General Assembly in Istanbul (Turkey), conducted a number of bilateral activities in Turkey and paid an official visit to the Republic of Italy from November 11-17. 4.

Answering an interview about the results of the working trip, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang stated clearly that the Vietnamese delegation led by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man participated proactively, actively, responsibly and made many practical contributions to the overall success of the General Assembly.

Along with the activities of the National Assembly Chairwoman, the Vietnamese delegation also actively participated in the sessions of the IPU Executive Council, the IPU Standing Committees, the Women's Parliamentarians Forum, the Young Parliamentarians Forum...

Vietnam's message and proposals received the attention, positive assessment and consensus of many member parliaments and delegates attending, contributing to affirming Vietnam's image as an active and responsible partner in promoting parliamentary cooperation and consolidating multilateralism" - Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang said.

Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang also informed about the most outstanding achievements in the recent working trip of the National Assembly Chairman to Italy and Turkey.

First, increased political trust. "Through the visit to the two countries, cooperative relations between legislative bodies have been strengthened in quality. The Speakers of our Parliament and the Speakers of the Italian and Turkish Parliaments both agreed to maintain regular delegation exchanges between parliamentary leaders and parliamentary bodies of the two countries to enhance mutual understanding, share legislative experiences and improve institutions, and coordinate in monitoring the implementation of agreements and commitments in all fields" - the Deputy Minister said.

Second, economy, trade, and investment are considered the focus of this working trip, creating a strong shift in "quality".

Italy agreed that the two sides need to better utilize the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), thereby strengthening the connection between Vietnam and the EU. Italy continues to support promoting EU countries to ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and remove the IUU yellow card for Vietnamese seafood.

For Turkey, the two sides agreed to promote the expansion of trade scale in a more balanced direction, study the possibility of launching negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement, thereby effectively exploiting the complementarity between the two economies and the gateway position of each country in the region.

Third, the working trip created new momentum to promote cooperation in many potential fields such as national defense - security, education - training, culture and people-to-people exchanges; and expanded to new fields such as innovation, artificial intelligence, green transformation and energy transformation.

For Italy, the two sides agreed to consider science - technology and innovation as one of the priority cooperation pillars in the coming period; for Turkey, cooperation in the fields of industry, infrastructure, logistics and tourism is identified as potential directions.

Also according to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, during the working trip, the National Assembly Chairman's meeting with the Pope and the Vatican Prime Minister is a meaningful event.
