On December 19 in Hanoi, the National Assembly Party Delegation and the National Assembly Office Party Committee held a Conference to review coordination work in 2024.
Concluding the Conference, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man stated that 2024 is a year when the country faces many difficulties and challenges, but under the leadership of the Party, the supervision of the National Assembly, the flexible, creative and proactive management of the Government, ministries, branches and localities, our country has achieved many great and comprehensive achievements and results in all fields in implementing the socio-economic development tasks in 2024.
The macro economy is stable, inflation is under control, growth rate is quite good, social security is guaranteed. Gross domestic product (GDP) growth for the whole year is about 7% with 15/15 socio-economic targets expected to be achieved and exceeded.
National defense and security are maintained. Foreign affairs are strengthened. The work of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity is promoted.
At the recent 8th Session, the National Assembly passed 18 laws and 21 resolutions, removing many institutional “bottlenecks” for the country’s socio-economic development. At the same time, it decided on many important issues, creating breakthroughs to complete infrastructure, maximizing resources, with many historic decisions.
The National Assembly Chairman said that 2024 also marks a strong and profound innovation of the National Assembly in thinking in legislative work.
Accordingly, the Law only regulates framework issues, which are principled, appropriate, brief, and concise, and issues under the authority of the National Assembly; does not codify the provisions of decrees and circulars; and resolutely abandons the mindset of "if you can't manage it, then ban it"...

The National Assembly Chairman also stated that in 2024, the National Assembly Party Delegation coordinated with the Party Committee of the National Assembly Office to organize many conferences to disseminate and implement the Party's resolutions, conclusions, and regulations.
At the same time, orient ideological work, promptly grasp the ideological developments of cadres and party members; coordinate and lead organizational and personnel work promptly and in accordance with regulations; perform well the work of inspection, supervision, and internal political protection.
However, in addition to the achievements, the National Assembly Chairman also frankly pointed out some shortcomings and limitations, such as low initiative; limitations in detecting and solving problems; lack of creativity and certainty in consulting and proposing.
The work of grasping the situation at the local and grassroots levels is still slow and not close; coordination is still a weak link both within and outside the National Assembly; there are limitations in self-inspection, experience-sharing, and self-adjustment; there is a fear of innovation, some agencies lack professionalism; there are still few workers and many leaders; in some places, leaders are not truly exemplary...
Regarding the direction and tasks for 2025, the National Assembly Chairman suggested continuing to strongly innovate in law-making, supervision and decision-making on important national issues.
Regarding personnel work and the use of cadres, the National Assembly Chairman suggested that it is necessary to continue building a solid team with a high sense of responsibility; daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility, having innovative thinking in work; on that basis, innovate the process of evaluating, selecting, recruiting and appointing cadres.
The National Assembly Chairman also suggested that it is necessary to focus on training, ensuring policies and regimes for cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees and workers in accordance with regulations; having appropriate solutions to handle policies and regimes and issues related to personnel work. Strengthening propaganda to create consensus and unity in the process of arranging and streamlining the payroll.
