On September 6, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police held a ceremony to receive the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces in the resistance war against the US for national salvation.
At the ceremony, authorized by the President, General Luong Tam Quang - Member of the Politburo, Minister of Public Security - awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to Thanh Hoa Provincial Police.
Previously, on July 9, 2026, the President signed Decision No. 1128/QD-CTN conferring the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces on Thanh Hoa Provincial Police.
This is the second time Thanh Hoa Provincial Police have been awarded this title. The first time was on July 29, 2008, when the President signed Decision No. 976 awarding the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to Thanh Hoa Police.
According to Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, during the anti-American resistance war, Thanh Hoa Police force participated in protecting strategically located areas on the support line from the North to the southern battlefield.
In the two wars of destruction of the North by the US air force and navy, Thanh Hoa Police forces coordinated to rescue 5,426 people; protected hundreds of thousands of vehicles and more than 68 million tons of goods, weapons, missiles, and food transported to the front lines.
Along with soldiers and people in the province, this force participated in shooting down 376 aircraft, capturing 36 pilots alive, burning and sinking 57 warships.
Thanh Hoa Police also organized struggles to prevent many espionage, commando, sabotage and disturbance activities in the area; and at the same time protected traffic routes, warehouses, goods and support activities for the battlefield.
Nearly 600 Thanh Hoa Police officers and soldiers were reinforced for the Southern battlefield and performed international duties in Laos and Cambodia. Among these, 85 officers and soldiers died, many were injured.
Over 81 years of construction, combat and growth, Thanh Hoa Police have been awarded 1 Ho Chi Minh Order, twice conferred the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces and 165 orders and medals of various ranks.
In addition, 15 collectives and 2 individuals of the Thanh Hoa Police force were awarded and posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
