On June 29, Son La Provincial Police held a ceremony to announce the decisions of the Minister of Public Security and the Director of the Provincial Police on the new organizational model of the Commune-level Police. Major General Dang Trong Cuong, member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Director of the Provincial Police chaired the ceremony. Attending were comrade Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of relevant departments, branches and sectors.
According to the policy of the Politburo, the Resolution of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of provincial and commune-level administrative units, on June 22, 2025, the Minister of Public Security issued a decision to rearrange 52 provincial police into 23 units. The country currently has 34 new provincial police and 3,319 commune-level police units, including 2,621 communes, 687 wards and 11 special zones.

In Son La alone, from July 1, 2025, there will be 75 commune-level police units, including 8 ward police and 67 commune police. Along with that, the Provincial Police Director also issued specific decisions on the organization of the apparatus and the staffing of police units at the commune and ward levels.
According to the new model, each police unit at the commune and ward levels is organized into 5 professional working groups: general team, security team, regional police team, order police team, and crime prevention police team. Each team has one team leader and a maximum of two deputy team leaders. The staff of each unit ranges from 26 to 40 officers, including commune and ward police chiefs and no more than 5 deputy police chiefs.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Major General Dang Trong Cuong affirmed that this is an important step in the process of reforming and modernizing the organization of the public security sector in the direction of streamlining and efficiency, closely following the grassroots. He requested that police units quickly stabilize the organization and deploy tasks without interruption in maintaining security and order.
The Director of the Provincial Police also requested the professional departments to increase guidance and support for the commune-level police force during the transition process. At the same time, officers and soldiers must promote the spirit of solidarity, proactively study, practice moral qualities and professional capacity to successfully complete their tasks.

The police forces of 75 communes and wards are required to quickly receive work records, finances and assets from old units, not to let them stagnate, affecting the rights of the people. Along with that, it is necessary to grasp the local situation, proactively advise local Party committees and authorities to deploy solutions to ensure security and order in the new situation.
The improvement of the grassroots police organization not only contributes to maintaining political security stability, social order and safety, but is also an important premise for building a clean and strong Son La Police force, meeting the requirements of the tasks in the new period.
