The international conference "APEC 2027 - Raising the level of cultural and tourism development of Phu Quoc" is scheduled to take place on June 26 in Phu Quoc, organized by Dai Doan Ket Newspaper in coordination with An Giang Provincial People's Committee.
This is a particularly meaningful event in the series of activities towards APEC 2027, and also a practical activity to celebrate the success of the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2026 - 2031 and towards the 85th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Cuu Quoc - Giai Phong - Dai Doan Ket Newspaper (1942-2027).
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Truong Thanh Trung - Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Secretary of the Party Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Dai Doan Ket Newspaper, Head of the Conference Organizing Committee said: APEC is a leading influential economic cooperation forum in the Asia-Pacific region, and at the same time opens up opportunities for Vietnam to promote the image of the country, people, cultural identity and international integration capacity. In the context of Phu Quoc being chosen to host many important activities of APEC 2027 High-Level Week, the organization of this International Conference is expected to contribute to raising the status of Pearl Island, promoting the Vietnamese tourism brand on the international stage.
According to the Editor-in-Chief of Dai Doan Ket Newspaper, Phu Quoc is facing a "golden opportunity" to make a strong breakthrough. In recent years, Pearl Island has recorded comprehensive transformation with the presence of many large corporations, modern tourism - resort - entertainment infrastructure systems and airport, transportation, international convention center and digital infrastructure upgrade projects. Preparations for APEC 2027 will continue to create important momentum for Phu Quoc to rise to become a regional-scale tourism, service and trade center.
However, sustainable development cannot only be based on modern infrastructure or large investment capital flows. More importantly, it is to preserve cultural identity, preserve natural ecosystems and create unique values for destinations. The international conference "APEC 2027 - Raising the level of cultural - tourism development of Phu Quoc" will have the participation of economic experts, managers, scientists, businesses, and domestic and foreign investors. The conference content is built in a multi-dimensional, in-depth direction, associated with practical issues raised in the process of preparing for APEC 2027. The presentations will focus on analyzing international experiences on tourism island development, building smart coastal cities, visa-free models, developing the night economy, improving service quality and building the image of an international destination for Phu Quoc. In addition, issues on environment, marine ecology, green development and improving the quality of tourism human resources will also be discussed at the forum.
At the ceremony, representatives of the Organizing Committee said that coordination with localities and companion units is being implemented synchronously to ensure that the Conference takes place professionally, effectively and with high spillover effects. Communication activities, connecting experts, businesses, investors and international partners are also being promoted before the event. In parallel, many communication activities will also be implemented to spread issues of sustainable tourism development, international integration and Vietnam's new position in the Asia-Pacific region.
