According to VNA, at around 6:30 p.m. on September 26 (local time), the official welcoming ceremony for General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on a state visit to the Republic of Cuba, took place solemnly at the Revolution Palace in the capital city of Havana.
First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez presided over the welcoming ceremony.
The welcoming ceremony was held solemnly with the highest protocol reserved for heads of state.
In a fraternal atmosphere, First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez welcomed General Secretary and President To Lam at the main hall of the Revolution Palace. The two leaders entered the positions of honor and the military band played the national anthems of both countries.
The Captain of the Honour Guard of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces invited the two leaders to review the Honour Guard.
Amidst the majestic music, General Secretary and President To Lam and First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez came together to salute the national flags of the two countries and the Guard of Honor.
After the ceremony of inspecting the Guard of Honor, General Secretary and President To Lam and First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez came forward to greet and introduce the official members of the delegations of the two countries present at the welcoming ceremony.
Immediately after the official welcoming ceremony, General Secretary and President To Lam and First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez led high-ranking delegations from the two countries to hold talks to discuss and evaluate the achievements and cooperation results between Vietnam and Cuba in recent times and propose directions to strengthen and improve the effectiveness of cooperation in all fields, bringing the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba to a new stage, increasingly developing substantially and sustainably, for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
It is expected that after the talks, the two leaders will witness the signing ceremony of cooperation documents between ministries, branches and businesses of the two countries.
The State visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to Cuba has historical and symbolic significance, and opens a new phase in the special cooperation and friendship between the two countries with more practical and sustainable results.
