On October 30, in Hanoi, General Secretary To Lam chaired a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity (Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity) to discuss and give opinions on the situation and results of handling corruption and negativity cases and incidents since the 26th Session up to now and the policy for handling a number of cases and incidents under the monitoring and direction of the Steering Committee.
Information about the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee was announced by the Central Internal Affairs Committee at the meeting on the afternoon of October 30.
Mr. Dang Van Dung - Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee - informed about some key tasks in the coming time that the Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption has given direction.
Accordingly, the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee requires Party committees, Party organizations, and functional agencies to continue to further promote the work of PCTNLPTC; to focus on directing and promoting the work of preventing and combating waste; to link the prevention and combat of corruption and negativity with the prevention and combat of waste; to determine that the prevention and combat of waste has an equivalent position to the prevention and combat of corruption and negativity.
In particular, directing the final handling of serious, complicated corruption and negative cases that attract public attention.
Strive from now until the end of 2024 to complete the investigation, prosecution, and trial of 12 cases and 2 incidents; of which strive to bring 2 key cases to first instance trial in accordance with the Steering Committee's Plan, including:
- The case of "Violating bidding regulations causing serious consequences; Giving bribes; Receiving bribes; Taking advantage of positions and powers while performing official duties" occurred at the Medical Construction Project Management Board under the Bac Ninh Department of Health, AIC International Progress Joint Stock Company and related units;
- The case of "Violating regulations on management and use of state assets causing loss and waste; Lack of responsibility causing serious consequences; Receiving bribes; Giving bribes; Taking advantage of positions and powers to influence others for personal gain" occurred at Xuyen Viet Oil Trading, Transport and Tourism Limited Liability Company and a number of related agencies and organizations.
The Standing Committee of the Steering Committee also requested to direct the review, summary, and comprehensive assessment of the implementation of the 2013 Law on Practicing Thrift and Combating Wastefulness and relevant legal provisions to amend, supplement, and improve the effectiveness of management and use of state resources.
