Due to serious illness, former South Korean Prime Minister Lee Hae Chan passed away in Ho Chi Minh City.

On January 25, 2026, answering a reporter's question requesting confirmation of information that former South Korean Prime Minister Lee Hae Chan had passed away in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said:

Immediately after receiving the news, in recent days, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has closely coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and relevant agencies to create all the best medical conditions to treat Mr. Lee Hae Chan in Ho Chi Minh City. However, due to serious illness, Mr. Lee Hae Chan has passed away.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Vietnamese leaders sent their regards and deepest condolences to the Korean Government and the families of Mr. Lee Hae Chan.
