According to VNA, on the occasion of attending the Opening Meeting of the Peace Council on Gaza in Washington D.C., USA at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, on February 19, General Secretary To Lam received US Chief Trade Representative, Ambassador Jamieson Greer.
At the reception, General Secretary To Lam congratulated the US on successfully organizing the opening meeting of the Peace Council on Gaza; emphasizing that peace, security and development are extremely important issues for nations and the world.
The General Secretary congratulated the US on achieving many national development achievements in President Donald Trump's second term. The General Secretary wished President Trump and US businesses to attend the APEC High-Level Week in Vietnam in 2027.
General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the achievements in cooperation between the two countries in the fields of politics, economy - trade, security - defense, people-to-people exchanges and wished the two sides to jointly promote relations to develop further, bringing practical benefits to the two countries, to the people of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability, development and prosperity for the region and the world.
The General Secretary welcomed the positive results achieved in the negotiation process of the reciprocal trade agreement; highly appreciated the role of the US Trade Representative Office and the concern and support of Ambassador Jamieson Greer personally.
The General Secretary said that Vietnamese agencies will continue to closely coordinate with the US side so that the two sides can soon complete the agreement.
