VNA reported that in the late afternoon of February 18, local time (morning of February 19, Hanoi time), in Washington D.C. (USA), General Secretary To Lam witnessed the signing and awarding ceremony of contracts and cooperation agreements between Vietnam and the US in key areas such as science and technology, digital transformation, aviation and healthcare.
The total value of the documents awarded amounted to 37.2 billion USD, demonstrating the strong and drastic commitments of the partners in the context of the two countries entering a new period of development.


Speaking to welcome at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Nguyen Quoc Dung emphasized that after 30 years of normalizing relations, Vietnam and the United States have become Comprehensive Strategic Partners for peace, cooperation and sustainable development.
The two countries have together turned historical distances into a bridge of sustainable cooperation, on the basis of mutual respect, understanding and jointly looking towards the future. In which, cooperation agreements and documents between the business communities of the two countries contribute greatly to the process of building strong, substantive and balanced development relations.
The Vietnamese Embassy in the US is committed to continuing to be a positive bridge, promoting policy dialogue, removing obstacles and creating the most favorable conditions for business cooperation between the two countries.
The documents signed and exchanged between the two sides include many important agreements in the fields of science and technology, digital transformation, aviation and healthcare.
The Ministry of Science and Technology awarded a License to provide telecommunications services with network infrastructure (satellite fixed telecommunications network type) to Starlink Services Vietnam Limited Company.

Vietnam Airlines Corporation (Vietnam Airlines) and Boeing Group signed a contract to purchase 50 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
Vietnam Airlines and Boeing Group are continuing to develop a long-term cooperative relationship through the airline's first order for Boeing Group's narrow-body aircraft line.

Sun Phu Quoc Airways also signed a contract to purchase 40 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with Boeing Corporation. The contract helps the airline improve its cross-continental operational capacity and contributes to strengthening trust and promoting sustainable bilateral economic cooperation between businesses of the two countries.
In addition, Vietjet signed a contract to select, purchase engines and maintenance services with Pratt & Whitney (under RTX Corporation) for 44 A321NEO and A321XLR aircraft using GTF engines. The airline also signed an agreement with Griffin Global Asset Management on providing finance for 6 Boeing 737-8 aircraft.



In the medical field, Tam Anh General Hospital and Mevion Medical Systems Company signed a contract to purchase the Mevion S250-FIT proton radiation therapy system, the most modern proton cancer radiation therapy system in the US. Vietnam is the first country in Asia to own this modern equipment system, opening up hope for safer and more effective cancer treatment.
