VNA reported that at noon on February 18 local time (early morning of February 19 Hanoi time), the special plane carrying General Secretary To Lam and the delegation arrived at Andrews Military Airport, Washington D.C., USA, starting their trip to attend the opening meeting of the Gaza Peace Council from February 18 to 20, at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, Chairman of the Founding Committee of the Gaza Peace Council.
Welcoming General Secretary To Lam and the delegation at Andrews Military Airport were: Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Nguyen Quoc Dung; Ambassador, Head of the Vietnamese Mission to the United Nations Do Hung Viet; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang; Vietnamese Consul General in San Francisco Hoang Anh Tuan; Vietnamese Consul General in Houston Hoang Thuy Duong, along with officials and staff of the Embassy.

As a founding member, Vietnam wishes to join its members in promoting the role of the Gaza Peace Council in promoting peace and reconstruction of Gaza on the basis of the United Nations Security Council Resolution, ensuring the legitimate interests of all parties, especially the Palestinian people, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter.
General Secretary To Lam's participation in the opening meeting of the Peace Council on Gaza is a support for peace efforts in general and the Gaza reconstruction initiative in particular, contributing to deepening cooperation between Vietnam and the US in handling regional and global issues, in line with the spirit of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
