The strength of the people's hearts
Spring 1930, our nation's history marked a major milestone - the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam, a great historical turning point of the Vietnamese revolution. Throughout the 96-year journey under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, our country and people have achieved many great victories, recognized by history and friends around the world. That leadership is reflected in the Party's platform and correct guidelines from 1930 to present.
In every step of the Vietnamese revolution, "people's hearts" are always an important factor, as beloved President Ho Chi Minh has repeatedly advised: "In the sky, nothing is more precious than the people. In the world, nothing is stronger than the unity of the people.
The lesson "The people are the root" is a great ideology, throughout the entire revolutionary leadership process of our Party. Revolution is the cause of the masses, by the people and for the people. From the "people's strength, people's heart" under the leadership of the Party, we have achieved the victory of the August Revolution in 1945, fought for national liberation and national reunification (1975) and achieved great victories in the renovation process. The glorious victories of the Party are also the victories of the people's hearts, the people's strength, and the strength of national unity.
In the report on the documents submitted to the 14th Party Congress, General Secretary To Lam emphasized: "The ideology throughout the Document and also the source of strength of the Vietnamese revolution is "People are the root".
The people are the center, the subject, the goal, the driving force and the resource of development. All guidelines and policies must aim to improve the material and spiritual life of the people; ensure the people's right to mastery; respect, listen and rely on the people. The Party must be closely attached to the people, wholeheartedly serve the people, under the supervision of the people, and be responsible to the people for all its decisions.
Improving the material and spiritual life of the People
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dau Ba Thin - Vice Rector of Hong Duc University (Thanh Hoa) - said that from the speech of General Secretary To Lam as well as the spirit of the 14th Party Congress, it can be seen that the consistent viewpoint "people are the root" and this is a major lesson with methodological significance in the process of leadership and rule. Placing "people are the root" in the group of important lessons affirms that this is not a slogan but a principle guiding all policies and decisions of our Party.
In the Report submitted to the 14th Party Congress, General Secretary To Lam inherited and developed that ideological flow, and at the same time set very specific, very "life-like" requirements for the entire political system. "The people are the root" is not only understood as an ideological principle, but is established as an action standard and an evaluation criterion. Accordingly, the people are not only the beneficiaries of policies, but also the center, the subject, the goal, the driving force and also the resource of development.
The Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws must all be attributed to improving the material and spiritual life of the people, ensuring the people's right to mastery, respecting, listening to and relying on the people" - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dau Ba Thin analyzed.
Also according to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dau Ba Thin, from a strategic perspective, the Report also places "people as the root" in the organic relationship with the task of building a people's heart battle. The people's heart battle, as emphasized by the General Secretary, is not an abstract concept, but a state of social consensus, a strong bond between the Party, the State and the people.
When the people's hearts battleground is firmly built, even the great difficulties and challenges of the country will be resolved. This is the inheritance and development of Ho Chi Minh's thought: "It's easy a hundred times without the people, it's difficult ten thousand times with the people, the truth has been tested through the history of the Vietnamese revolution.
It can be seen that when the country faces the opportunity for development and global challenges, the belief, consensus and companionship of the people are the solid political foundation, the great endogenetic resource of each major policy" - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dau Ba Thin said.
According to Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc - Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Council on Culture - Society, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, "the people are the root" is a consistent ideology and also the source of strength of the Vietnamese revolution. In the new development stage of the country, our Party not only affirms the central role of the people in the revolutionary cause but also more clearly expresses the spirit of serving the people, being close to the people, respecting and promoting the people's right to mastery in the context of the country entering a new development stage. All policies and guidelines identified are based on legitimate interests, towards a prosperous and happy life for the people.
“As President Ho Chi Minh taught: “Beyond the interests of the Fatherland and the people, our Party has no other interests”. This is also a guiding ideology for our Party and each cadre and party member to act in accordance with the Party's principles and purposes, closely attached to the people, wholeheartedly serving the class, serving the people, serving the Fatherland, loyally representing the interests of the class, working people and the nation, leading the Vietnamese revolution to win victory after victory and realize the aspiration for prosperity and happiness of the entire nation” - Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc emphasized.
