On September 3, in Hanoi, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly's Committee on Law and Justice held a preliminary review session of reports on the work of the judicial sector.
Presenting a draft summary report on the preliminary review of the Government's report on crime prevention and control and law violations in 2025, Vice Chairwoman of the Law and Justice Committee Mai Thi Phuong Hoa said that in 2025, the Government has proposed many effective solutions to combat law violations and crimes to ensure socio-economic development and stabilize people's lives.
Accordingly, the Government has submitted to the National Assembly many draft laws, including many laws related to the organization and operation of judicial agencies; issued many legal documents to implement the laws and resolutions of the National Assembly.
At the same time, the Government has directed the Ministry of Public Security and ministries, branches and localities to continue to be proactive, grasp and analyze the forecast of the world, domestic and regional situation.
Effectively implement the directives, resolutions, programs and plans of the Party, National Assembly and Government on crime prevention and control associated with the implementation of professional tasks of each ministry, branch and locality.
The Standing Committee of the Committee basically agreed with many comments and assessments of the Government on the work of preventing law violations.
Accordingly, although crimes and violations of the law on social order have basically decreased (down 16.09%) and many types of crimes have decreased compared to the same period, however, some types of crimes have increased, partly due to prevention work such as: Rape crimes increased by 8.86%, fraud crimes, property appropriation increased by 20.56%, crimes that disturb public order increased by 25.07%...
In addition, there were a number of brutal and inhumane murders, causing anger, anxiety and insecurity among the people.
The Standing Committee of the Committee also found that state management in some areas is still inadequate, leading to subjects taking advantage to commit crimes, making crime prevention and law violation work less effective.
Therefore, the Standing Committee of the Law and Justice Committee suggested that the Government continue to take measures to improve state management capacity, strengthen inspection, examination and launch peak periods to fight in the fields of telecommunications, Internet, smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, food safety, virtual currency, drugs, etc.
At the meeting, Chairman of the Law and Justice Committee Hoang Thanh Tung proposed to accept the opinions to complete one more step of drafting the preliminary review reports and submit them to the National Assembly Standing Committee for comments at the upcoming meeting.
According to Mr. Hoang Thanh Tung, it is necessary to further assess the situation of organizing the judicial system according to the model of organizing local governments at 2 levels; analyze the results and advantages, difficulties and problems in organizing the apparatus, on that basis, report to the Government, ministries and branches according to their authority to find solutions to resolve them.
At the same time, it is recommended that the Government, the Supreme People's Court, and the Supreme People's Procuracy urgently summarize their working term to report to the National Assembly for consideration.
