On April 24, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province confirmed that the locality had collected voters' opinions on the project to establish Quang Tri province on the basis of merging Quang Binh province and Quang Tri province.
As a result, more than 97% of voters (172,867 voters/177,490 voters) participated in giving their opinions, of which nearly 99% of voters agreed with the project.
According to the plan, Quang Tri province after the merger will have an area of 12,699.99 km2 (reaching 254% of the standard); population of 1,845,335 people (reaching 131.81%); commune-level administrative units of 78 (69 communes, 8 wards, 1 special zone); the administrative center of Quang Tri province after the merger will be located in Quang Binh province.
On April 23, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province submitted a document to the People's Council of Quang Tri province, term VIII, session 31, requesting consideration and approval of the policy of establishing Quang Tri province on the basis of merging Quang Binh province and Quang Tri province.
It is expected that on April 25, the People's Council of Quang Tri province will hold the 31st session to review the above content.
