The National Assembly Standing Committee recently held a meeting to consider and decide on the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels for the 2023-2025 period of 12 provinces and cities.
The list of localities considered for administrative unit arrangement in this period includes: An Giang, Dong Thap, Ha Nam, Hanoi, Ha Tinh, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Tho, Son La, Quang Ngai, Quang Tri, Tra Vinh, Vinh Phuc.
Notably, according to the decision approving the arrangement of district-level and commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2025 period, on the implementation of the arrangement of commune-level rural administrative units into rural administrative units of the same level, Binh Luc district (Ha Nam) will merge the entire natural area and population size of Boi Cau, Hung Cong, and An Noi communes to establish Binh An commune.
According to Lao Dong reporters, Ha Nam province has 6 district-level administrative units (4 districts, 1 town, 1 city). Phu Ly city is a type I district-level administrative unit; Duy Tien town and the districts of Kim Bang, Thanh Liem, Ly Nhan, Binh Luc are type II district-level administrative units.
Ha Nam province has 109 commune-level administrative units (including 83 communes, 20 wards, and 6 towns). Of which, there are 13 type I communes; 92 type II communes; and 4 type III communes.
Through review, Ha Nam province has no district-level administrative units subject to rearrangement; there are 19 commune-level administrative units subject to rearrangement (there are 11 commune-level administrative units subject to rearrangement, 8 adjacent commune-level administrative units related to the rearrangement).
