In August, the city's socio-economic situation remained stable and continued to grow positively. The industrial production index increased by 6.34% over the same period; many key industries recovered quite well. Total state budget revenue reached nearly VND 74,000 billion, equal to 73.7% of the annual estimate, up 13.6%. Export turnover reached 22.6 billion USD, up 20.8%; import reached 17.9 billion USD, up 16.5%. Trade and service activities are vibrant, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue increased by 14.3%.
The tourism sector continued to flourish, the whole city welcomed 8.3 million visitors in the first 8 months of the year, an increase of more than 20% over the same period; including more than 700,000 international visitors. Cultural, sports, educational and medical activities are implemented synchronously. The work of caring for policy families, meritorious people, and poor households has been focused on, and many social security programs have been implemented promptly and practically.
Regarding construction investment, the city has started construction and inaugurated many key infrastructure projects, focusing on transportation, urban beautification and new rural construction. The disbursement of public investment capital has been vigorously implemented, reaching over 45% of the plan. National defense, security, social order and safety are maintained; the selection and calling of citizens to join the army in 2026 is carried out in accordance with regulations.
Concluding the conference, Mr. Le Tien Chau, Secretary of the City Party Committee, acknowledged and commended the efforts of all levels, sectors and the entire political system in implementing the task of socio-economic development in recent times. The Secretary of the City Party Committee emphasized that the Party Committee of the City People's Committee needs to focus highly to complete the 2025 plan, especially for the targets that have not been achieved. In which, focusing on 2 IIP indices and attracting FDI capital, speeding up the disbursement of public investment capital that is facing many difficulties.
The City People's Committee directs strongly, clearly assigns the responsibility of leading the monitoring of project progress, promptly urges contractors and strictly handles cases of delay. At the same time, focus on removing difficulties in construction material prices, site clearance, ensuring people's rights but not affecting progress. The city needs to pay attention to arranging and mobilizing cadres in disadvantaged localities; speed up procedures to soon start and inaugurate important projects such as LG Power Plant, Nam Do Son Port, Waste Treatment Plant... associated with activities to celebrate the City Party Congress and the National Party Congress.
