VNA reported that on the morning of August 11, at the Yongsan Presidential Palace, the welcoming ceremony for General Secretary To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on a state visit to the DPRK from August 10-13, 2025, at the invitation of President of the DPRK Lee Jae Myung and his wife, was solemnly held.
At 9:30 a.m. (local time), General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived at the Yongsan Presidential Palace in Korea.
Welcoming the General Secretary and his wife at the parking lot, President Lee Jae Myung and his wife shook hands to congratulate General Secretary To Lam and his wife, and invited the General Secretary and his wife to step into the position of honor.
Expressing the respect for the visit to Korea by General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam, the friend country sent a military band to welcome and fire 21 cannons. At the same time, the Military band played the Vietnamese and Korean national anthems.
President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung invited General Secretary To Lam to rehaule the Honor Guard. Then, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and General Secretary To Lam introduced the two countries' official union members.
At the welcoming ceremony, Korean children sang the song "The World Children celebrate", praising the friendship, affection and solidarity of children around the world.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, Vietnam and South Korea have continuously developed close and mutually beneficial partnerships in many fields, including politics, economics, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
Vietnam and South Korea regularly maintain delegation exchanges and contacts at high and all levels, promoting the rotation of cooperation mechanisms, especially in the fields of politics, defense and security.
Economy, trade and investment continue to be one of the important pillars in bilateral cooperation.
South Korea is currently Vietnam's largest investor and Vietnam's third largest trading partner. Vietnam is the top priority partner that South Korea provides development assistance to.
This State visit to Korea by General Secretary To Lam clearly demonstrates the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, proactiveness, active, comprehensive, extensive, effective international integration and is also an important foreign activity to promote the implementation of Resolution No. 59 of the Politburo on international integration in the new situation.
