During General Secretary To Lam's state visit to South Korea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son answered an interview with the Korean press about the significance of the visit and bilateral relations between Vietnam and South Korea.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that, at the invitation of President Lee Jae Myung and his wife, General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, paid a state visit to the beautiful and hospitable country of Korea, as the first National Assembly Secretary of the new administration. This is also General Secretary To Lam's first visit to Korea in his new position. This demonstrates the respect and high priority of the two countries' senior leaders for the Vietnam - Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
4 key cooperation orientations
After more than 30 years of construction and development, the Vietnam - Korea relationship has become a model, developed extensively and achieved many encouraging results in all fields, actively contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
The General Secretary's visit to Korea this time is a strong affirmation of Vietnam's determination to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Korea, with the desire for higher political trust, closer strategic coordination, more comprehensive substantive cooperation and closer friendship between the people of the two countries.
This is also an important opportunity for the two countries' top leaders to comprehensively discuss major measures, identify priorities and open up new cooperation directions in various fields to continue to make the Vietnam - Korea relationship a strong progress, go far in the new era of development, bringing practical benefits to the people and businesses of the two countries in the context of complex and unpredictable developments in the world and the region.

Through the visit, Vietnam is ready to cooperate with the new South Korean Government to focus on implementing the following key cooperation orientations:
First, enhance high-level exchanges, elevate cooperation in key areas such as diplomacy, defense, and security.
Second, improve the effectiveness of substantive cooperation, especially in areas where Korea has strengths and is in line with Vietnam's new development orientation such as infrastructure, high-tech electronics, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, smart cities, and specialized industrial complexes along the value chain, worthy of being the top important pillars of bilateral relations.
Third, shaping and turning science and technology cooperation, innovation, digital transformation and developing high-quality human resources into new pillars in bilateral relations.
Fourth, promote new and more diverse cooperation directions on cultural industry, tourism, labor, climate change, education, healthcare and people-to-people exchanges.
Korea is one of the leading important investment partners
Economic, trade and investment cooperation has always been one of the important pillars in the relationship between the two countries, the main driving force for the development of all aspects of both Vietnam and Korea.
For Vietnam, Korea is currently one of the leading important investment partners with more than 10,000 valid projects, with a total registered capital of 93.7 billion USD.
The presence of Korean global corporations in Vietnam is a vivid testament to the strategic trust that Korean enterprises have in the investment environment and development prospects of Vietnam.

Along with that, Vietnam is committed to accompanying Korean enterprises in developing a diverse and high-value supply chain, while encouraging Vietnamese enterprises to participate more deeply and in a higher segment in the global supply network of Korean enterprises.
The Party and State of Vietnam are ready to create the most favorable conditions for foreign investors, including South Korea, to continue to invest stably and long-term, as well as seek new investment opportunities and develop together.
