From August 1 to 7, the 33rd Diplomatic Conference took place with the theme "Promoting the pioneering role and performing the key and regular tasks of Vietnam's foreign affairs in the new era".
The Diplomatic Conference is an important forum of the Diplomatic sector, held periodically since 1957.
In an interview with the press before the conference, Politburo Member, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung emphasized: The 33rd Diplomatic Conference was built with the spirit of thoroughly grasping and effectively implementing the guidelines of the XIV Congress, especially the foreign policy guidelines in the new era of national development. The first focus is to fully grasp the major guidelines and orientations of the Party and State on national development, Party building, perfecting the political system and foreign affairs work. The second focus is to continue to exchange and comprehensively assess the international and regional situation in the fields of politics, security, strategy, economy, science and technology. The third focus is to exchange on the major tasks of foreign affairs work in the coming time.
Another consistent content of the conference is to improve the efficiency of organization and implementation. As General Secretary, President To Lam and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung have repeatedly emphasized, the most important stage today is the implementation stage. From correct awareness, correct determination of tasks to how to implement, how to organize, how to innovate the operation of representative agencies abroad, as well as how to adjust the operating model of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to meet new requirements. In which, digital transformation is a particularly important content" - Minister Le Hoai Trung added.

The Minister revealed that a prominent new point of the 33rd Diplomatic Conference is to strengthen the coordination mechanism between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and departments, ministries, branches and localities under the unified leadership of the Party and the management and administration of the State.
For the first time, the Central Steering Committee for Foreign Affairs and International Integration, headed by the General Secretary and President, is being implemented in a new context. With the role of the Standing Agency of the Steering Committee, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to study and improve the coordination and advisory mechanism for the Steering Committee to operate effectively.
This is also the first time, within the framework of the Diplomatic Conference, there will be a meeting co-chaired by the Minister of National Defense, the Minister of Public Security and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to exchange and strengthen the coordination mechanism between the 3 forces in 3 key and regular areas.
In addition, the conference will have specialized sessions on foreign affairs serving development, Party foreign affairs, people's foreign affairs, National Assembly foreign affairs and local foreign affairs with the participation and direction of key leaders of the Party and State.
