This information was announced by the Border Guard Command (BĐBP) on the afternoon of September 8. According to the Border Guard's quick summary report on the damage from storm No. 3, in the border area, the sea area from Thua Thien Hue outwards due to the influence of storm No. 3's circulation, 1 person died, 3 ships/16 people went missing; 41 ships and 1 canoe sank.
Drifting and running aground, 11 ships/82 people, 5 rafts damaged; collapsed, roofs blown off, damaged 1,690 houses, 1 school, broken and damaged 228 hectares of crops, plants, aquaculture areas and many electric poles and lighting poles.
In Quang Ninh province, 15 ships anchored in Co To, Ha Long, and Cam Pha sank; roofs of over 1,500 houses were blown off; 70 hectares of rice and crops were damaged, thousands of billboards and trees were broken.
In Thai Binh, 50 houses had their roofs blown off; 40 hectares of rice were damaged; many electric poles, lights, and trees were broken...
In Hai Phong, 3 vehicles sank (2 tourist boats, 1 ferry); 14 houses collapsed in Viet Hai commune.
In Lang Son, the roofs of 5 houses and 1 warehouse were blown off; 1 warehouse collapsed; 1 transformer station collapsed; and many trees were broken.
For the Border Guard force, storm No. 3 sank 2 boats, broke and damaged telecommunication antenna poles, lightning protection poles, electric poles, Viettel signal relays; blew off roofs and damaged 7,458 m² of corrugated iron roofs, glass door frames, and plaster ceilings; collapsed 275 m of fences and broke many trees, fruit trees, signs, and power lines of the Border Guards in the provinces of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, and the Border Guard Academy.
In order to respond and carry out rescue work during storm No. 3 , the Border Guard force actively and urgently coordinated with local authorities and functional forces to grasp and summarize the damage caused by storm No. 3 and help people overcome the consequences, clean up the environment, quickly stabilize units and management areas; verify and coordinate search and rescue for people and vehicles stranded, drifting, missing in the sea areas of Ha Long (Quang Ninh), Cat Ba (Hai Phong).
As a result, the units mobilized 3,035 officers and soldiers, 220 vehicles. Of which, Lang Son Border Guard had 119 officers and soldiers; Quang Ninh had 915 officers and soldiers, 32 boats, 107 cars; Hai Phong had 480 officers and soldiers, 13 boats, 487 officers and soldiers, 3 boats; Nam Dinh had 133 officers and soldiers, 6 boats, Ninh Binh had 59 officers and soldiers, 1 boat, 2 boats; Thanh Hoa had 559 officers and soldiers, 56 boats, 2 cars; Nghe An had 58 officers and soldiers; Quang Tri had 225 officers and soldiers.
The Border Guard coordinated with local authorities and functional forces to respond to storm No. 3, evacuating 594 households/1,506 people; supporting 22 Ninh Binh residents to take shelter; securing 232 houses in Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, tying up 107 cages; rescuing 10 fishermen trapped in the Ma cave area, Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh).
