Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tam - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of the City Party Committee - said: From September 26 to 28, 2025, at the City Military Command Hall, the 1st Congress of the Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, took place with the spirit of solidarity, democracy, innovation, intelligence and responsibility, completing all the contents and programs set out. The Congress comprehensively evaluated the results of the past 5 years, frankly pointed out the limitations, and at the same time highly agreed on the directions, goals, and key tasks for the new term.
The Congress discussed enthusiastically, contributing 297 opinions, including 206 presentations (including 8 presentations presented in the hall), contributing to completing the Political Report, the Report on review of leadership and direction work for the 2020 - 2025 term and documents submitted to the 14th National Party Congress.
The Congress agreed on the general goal of by 2030, Can Tho will become the growth pole of the country, the core urban area of the Mekong Delta, a center for trade, logistics services, marine economy, processing industry, digital technology, high-tech agriculture, education, specialized healthcare, science, technology and innovation. By 2045, Can Tho strives to be an ecological, civilized, modern city, belonging to the group of quite developed countries in Asia.
The Congress voted to approve 28 main targets, identifying 3 breakthroughs, 5 key tasks and 10 major groups of solutions for the 2025 - 2030 term.
Regarding personnel work, the Politburo has appointed 77 comrades to join the City Party Committee Executive Committee, term I, of which comrade Le Quang Tung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary General of the National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Office - holds the position of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, term I.
The Secretariat also appointed 14 comrades to join the Inspection Committee of the City Party Committee, and Pham Thi Phuong to hold the position of Chairwoman of the Inspection Committee. In addition, the city has 46 official delegates and 1 permanent delegate attending the 14th National Party Congress.
Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Can Tho City - emphasized: The first Congress of the Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, has been a great success thanks to the close leadership and direction of the Central Committee; the serious, methodical and scientific preparation of the City Party Committee Executive Committee; along with the sense of responsibility and enthusiasm of the team of cadres, party members and people. He respectfully thanked and wished that press agencies would continue to accompany, contribute to spreading the congress spirit, and encourage the entire Party Committee, government and people of the city to be determined to successfully implement the Congress Resolution.
