On February 6, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the "National online conference to promote the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term".
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Lam Thi Phuong Thanh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the election of National Assembly deputies (NA deputies) of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term will be held on March 15, 2026.
Ms. Lam Thi Phuong Thanh stated clearly that the upcoming election is a major political event of the country, aimed at selecting typical delegates representing the will, aspirations and right to mastery of the people.
At the same time, making an important contribution to building and perfecting the socialist rule-of-law state of Vietnam of the people, by the people, for the people.
The Standing Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized that information and propaganda work plays a particularly important role, being a direct bridge between the Party, State and people;
Contributing to creating unity in awareness, consensus in society, arousing the spirit of civic responsibility, ensuring that the election is organized democratically, equally, in accordance with the law, safely, economically and truly a festival for the whole people.
Over the past time, press agencies, grassroots information systems, and the team of propaganda workers nationwide have always accompanied propaganda and encouragement, making important contributions to the successful implementation of the country's political tasks, including election work in previous terms.
In the current context, according to Ms. Thanh, propaganda work also faces many new requirements and new challenges, especially the rapid development of the digital environment and social networks, along with the risk of spreading false information, fake news, distortions, and sabotage.
This requires propaganda work to be prepared early, deployed methodically, unified in content, flexible in methods and proactively orient public opinion, and fight against distorted and wrong arguments.
Today's conference is very practical, aiming to equip and update core information contents, propaganda orientations, and professional skills. At the same time, exchange and answer questions raised in the process of information and propaganda deployment.
In the coming time, Ms. Lam Thi Phuong Thanh requested press agencies and relevant units to focus on closely following and seriously implementing the orientations and propaganda of the Party and State related to the 16th National Assembly election and the election of People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
Ensuring accurate, timely, focused, and key information, contributing to raising the awareness of cadres, party members and people about the meaning and importance of the election.
Ms. Thanh informed that after the 2nd Consultation Conference of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, localities have organized to collect opinions from voters at the place of residence for those who were introduced to run for election. Through monitoring, press information and propaganda are very timely.
Along with that, Ms. Lam Thi Phuong Thanh proposed to strengthen widespread propaganda about the rights and obligations of citizens, arouse the spirit of responsibility, create an atmosphere of excitement, trust, and encourage voters to actively participate in the election, striving for a high voter turnout rate.
Promoting the role of journalism, multi-platform communication, grassroots information systems, digital communication and social networks to expand information coverage widely, suitable for each target group, especially interested in remote areas, ethnic minority areas, border areas, and islands.
The Standing Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism also proposed to promote foreign affairs propaganda about elections, introducing to the Vietnamese community abroad and international friends about the atmosphere of democracy, transparency, and lawfulness in the election process.
Proactively and promptly detect, fight, and refute wrong views, distortions, and abuses of elections to cause disunity within the Party, divide national unity, and infringe upon citizens' right to vote and run for election.
Promptly provide official information, contributing to maintaining political stability and social order and safety.
Strengthen coordination between central and local agencies, between state management agencies, press agencies and forces engaged in propaganda work, ensuring unified, consistent, synchronous, and effective information.
