On October 24, in Phu Quoc City, the People's Council of Kien Giang province held a conference to exchange experiences in the activities of the People's Councils at three levels for the 2021-2026 term.
In the first 9 months of 2024, People's Councils at all levels successfully organized 326 regular and thematic meetings, voted to pass 1,283 resolutions in various fields with important and necessary issues, meeting the requirements of local socio-economic development. Maintain the implementation of "Paperless Meetings" at the Provincial and District People's Councils.
Supervision was organized in the fields of economy, budget, culture, society, law, ethnicity... with 1,079 recommendations forwarded to relevant authorities and specialized sectors for handling and resolution according to their authority.
People's Councils at all levels focus on questioning and answering questions at meetings, focusing on urgent local issues in the fields of economy, culture, society, issues under the state management responsibility of specialized agencies and issues of urgent concern to voters. Record thousands of recommendations under the authority of People's Councils at all levels and forward them to People's Committees and specialized agencies at the same level for consideration and resolution.
At the conference, delegates discussed and pointed out difficulties and limitations that need to be overcome to ensure the operation of the People's Council becomes more and more effective, such as: Questioning activities in some places are still formal, still asking for information; some delegates are still confused about the methods, manners and content of questioning; some opinions and recommendations of voters have not been considered and resolved thoroughly...
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - Chairman of the People's Council of Kien Giang Province Mai Van Huynh emphasized that People's Councils at all levels continue to thoroughly grasp the functions, tasks and powers of the People's Council, the Standing Committee, the Committees, the Delegation Groups and People's Council delegates according to the provisions of law. Each People's Council delegate must uphold the spirit of solidarity, proactively study the provisions of the law, clearly understand their powers and fulfill their responsibilities.
"People's Councils at all levels must continue to innovate their working methods, focusing on improving the quality of meetings. Content must be prepared proactively from early on, from afar, avoiding "passivity and confusion", close to the reality of life, the expectations of voters and people. The work of running meetings must be flexible, scientific, suggestive, and orienting People's Council delegates to focus on discussing and clarifying key issues, new and difficult issues without precedent, in order to create high consensus before voting to pass the resolution," Mr. Huynh emphasized.
