Especially the digital transformation in the press field, the situation of merging and streamlining press agencies. The Conference also outlined the direction and tasks for 2025.
Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department - acknowledged the results and commended the outstanding achievements that the press agencies had achieved in 2024, contributing to the overall development and success of the whole country.
The Head of the Central Propaganda Department emphasized that 2025 is the final year to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; the year of Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress; a year with many important events and major anniversaries of the country. Particularly for journalists, 2025 is also a particularly meaningful year, an extremely important milestone - the 100th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press.
The Head of the Central Propaganda Department requested that press agencies continue to deeply, comprehensively and promptly propagate the directives, resolutions and policies of the Party and State, especially the guiding ideology of General Secretary To Lam on the new era, the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise.
Focus on propagating important political tasks, major events, and important anniversaries of the country in 2025. Information and propaganda need to be focused, key, create strong impressions, commensurate with the scale of the events, have high spread, must create new confidence, new spirit, new motivation in the entire Party, people and army.
State management agencies on the press need to focus on reviewing and evaluating the implementation of the National Press Development and Management Plan until 2025; advising on amending and supplementing the 2016 Press Law and legal documents on the press in the direction of resolutely abandoning the mindset of "if you can't manage it, then ban it"; creating further institutional breakthroughs, removing difficulties, obstacles, and bottlenecks to unblock all resources, creating an environment for the press to best and most effectively promote its role, responsibility, and professional mission.
At the same time, resolutely revoke the operating licenses of newspapers and magazines that have committed serious and prolonged violations; social organizations and socio-professional organizations need to proactively reorganize the apparatus of their affiliated magazine agencies and propose to competent authorities to revoke magazine operating licenses if deemed unnecessary.
Resolutely handle the situation of "newspaperization" of general electronic information sites, not allowing general electronic information sites to become "super press agencies".
Along with institutional breakthroughs, it is necessary to pay real attention to supporting press agencies in digital transformation; handling and recommending competent authorities to promptly handle press economic issues, harmoniously and appropriately resolving the implementation of political tasks and financial autonomy; between improving the quality of ideological orientation, education, and aesthetics and meeting people's entertainment needs; between the method of managing social networks and general electronic information sites and the method of managing the press.
Press agencies need to focus on disseminating the summary of the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW on streamlining the organizational apparatus. The press needs to proactively guide public opinion so that the streamlining of the apparatus can be quickly implemented throughout the political system.
Regarding the 100th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that the celebration activities should be organized solemnly, impressively, practically, creating a strong spread in society.
