On April 16, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense organized a conference to summarize the peak period of crime prevention and control; drug prevention and control; human trafficking prevention and control; anti-smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods before, during and after the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense - chaired the conference.
According to the report at the Conference, during the recent peak period, agencies and units throughout the army organized the dissemination and development of plans to strictly implement the Directive of the Ministry of National Defense in accordance with the actual situation in each area, organized the reasonable use of forces, and the coordination with functional forces inside and outside the Army was improved, especially coordination in the fight against and arrest of drug crimes, human trafficking crimes; anti-smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
The Border Guard force has presided over the establishment and successfully fought 51 projects; prosecuted 203 cases/248 subjects; administratively sanctioned 4,775 cases/5,462 subjects, the total amount of administrative sanctions and the value of goods temporarily seized is about more than 52 billion VND.
The Vietnam Coast Guard force has scouted and grasped the area, regularly maintained ships and boats on duty in key sea areas, organized the arrest and handling of 548 cases/728 criminals and violators at sea and coastal areas, the total amount of administrative violation fines and the value of handling exhibits, handed over to the forces to continue handling is estimated at nearly 40 billion VND.

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau praised the results that the entire army has achieved in implementing the recent peak period.
To contribute to further improving the effectiveness of the work of fighting and preventing crime and law violations in the coming time, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau requested Party committees, commanders of agencies, units and officers and soldiers to continue to thoroughly grasp and synchronously and effectively implement the Directives and Resolutions of the Party and State, directions of the Government, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense on military and national defense tasks, crime and law violation prevention and combat work, and work 1389.
From there, promote the positive and proactive nature in thoroughly grasping and implementing the contents assigned by the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense in regulations and plans on power control, corruption prevention and control, wastefulness, and negativity to implement seriously, effectively, and in accordance with regulations.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau also requested agencies and units to continue to improve the quality of forecasting, grasping, analyzing, and evaluating the situation; actively and proactively advise and propose appropriate, effective, and safe measures to prevent, deter, and combat crime in the new situation.
