Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces is a noble award of the Party and State.

The Prime Minister reviewed the heroic tradition of the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces with resounding feats of arms during the resistance war such as "Eighteen villages of betel gardens," "Lang Le - Bau Co," "Cu Chi land of steel and bronze walls," and the legendary "Sac forest."
