The Malaysian Prime Minister informed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh that Malaysia, as ASEAN Chair 2025, will organize the ASEAN Economic Ministers' Conference on April 10, 2025 to discuss and evaluate the situation and measures to strengthen connectivity and cooperation within the bloc in the context of the US announcing new tariff policies.
The Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh informed Vietnam's efforts in exchanging with the US, including a phone call between General Secretary To Lam and US President Donald Trump on 4.4.2025, exchanging measures to remove obstacles, promote economic cooperation, trade towards fair, sustainable and harmonious trade of the parties; Including the possibility of Vietnam's import tax rate to 0% for goods imported from the US, and asking the US to apply the same tax rate for goods imported from Vietnam and continue to exchange to soon sign a bilateral agreement in the two countries in order to concretize the above commitments; And said that he sent Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc to the United States to discuss this issue specifically.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed Malaysia's initiative to organize the ASEAN Economic Ministers' Conference and affirmed that he would send the Minister of Industry and Trade to attend the Conference.
The Malaysian Prime Minister shared that Malaysia and many countries in the region welcomed and highly appreciated General Secretary To Lam's phone call with US President Donald Trump, and expressed his agreement and support for Vietnam's approach to this issue.
At the phone call, the Malaysian Prime Minister also informed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh about a number of measures taken by Malaysia as ASEAN Chair to address the Myanmar issue, including the visit to Myanmar by the Malaysian Foreign Minister on April 5, 2025; emphasized Malaysia's policy of promoting dialogue and ensuring solidarity and unity in resolving the Myanmar issue.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed Malaysia's efforts as ASEAN Chair in addressing the Myanmar issue, especially Malaysia's effective support as well as its sense of responsibility and active role in promoting ASEAN's joint action coordination to help Myanmar overcome the consequences of the recent earthquake.
The Prime Minister also informed about Vietnam's quick support measures to help Myanmar immediately after the earthquake, including sending more than 100 rescue forces along with many equipment, medical supplies, and medicines to Myanmar and providing $300,000 in aid to support Myanmar; affirmed that Vietnam will continue to actively accompany Malaysia and ASEAN member countries, ready to act as a mediator and mediator in the common effort to promote dialogue and ethnic reconciliation in Myanmar.
The two Prime Ministers agreed to continue exchanging, enhancing trust, coordination, and taking measures to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, for peace, stability, and prosperity of the two countries, the region, and the world.
