On the afternoon of April 4, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received President of the Republic of Burundi Evariste Ndayishimiye.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam welcomed and appreciated the official visit to Vietnam by President evaristist Ndayishimiye in the context that the two countries were preparing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (April 16, 1975 - 16.4.2025), thereby contributing to promoting the friendly relations between the two ruling parties and the National Party Committee of the National Council of the National Council of the National Council - (CNDD-FDD), as well as a friendly relationship and cooperation between the two countries in the near future.
General Secretary To Lam emphasized that Vietnam and Burundi have many similarities and common goals. Both countries have overcome difficult periods due to war, gained independence, peace and stability to focus on the goal of economic development and national construction.
Vietnam always attaches importance to the friendship and cooperation with African friends, including Burundi, and wishes to promote and bring the cooperation between the two countries to the latest stage in the fields of investment, agriculture, mining, technology, digital transformation, leadership and management training, etc.
The General Secretary suggested that the Burundian side continue to create favorable conditions and give incentives for the telecommunications joint venture of Viettel Group to operate effectively, contributing to the socio-economic development of the two countries.
The General Secretary emphasized that Vietnam has strengths in agriculture, mining and telecommunications, and is ready to cooperate and support Burundi in these areas, while expanding the scope and scope of cooperation in other areas in the coming time.
President Burundi thanked the warm and friendly reception of the leaders of the Party, State and the people of Vietnam; Expressing admiration for the outstanding development achievements of Vietnam under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, considering it an inspiration for Burundi in the process of rebuilding and building the country; Wishing Vietnam to share experiences in socio -economic development quickly and sustainably help Burundi to catch up with countries in the region.
President Evariste Ndayishimiye expressed his delight that in recent times, the relationship between the two ruling parties has had closer connections; emphasizing the desire of the Party, State and Government of Burundi to develop cooperation in many fields with Vietnam, especially in the fields of investment, science - technology, agriculture, education and training, etc.
The President expressed his willingness to create all favorable conditions for Viettel's Telecommunications Joint Venture to operate effectively, not only a bright spot in investment cooperation activities between the two countries but also a bridge connecting the two countries.
President evaristist Ndayishimiye and General Secretary To Lam agreed to continue to strengthen the exchange of delegations at all levels and channels in order to strengthen political reliability, create new motivation for cooperation; The two ruling parties enhance the exchange, contact, understanding each other, further tightening the relationship between the two parties, encouraging women and youth organizations of the two parties to enhance the exchange to promote friendship and mutual understanding between the people of the two countries, especially the younger generation. At the same time, the two sides welcomed the signing of a number of documents on the visit; Proposing relevant agencies of the two countries to actively negotiate to soon sign more documents to complete the legal framework, creating favorable conditions for promoting bilateral cooperation.
